I think comunication will be made eventually using some kind of gravity-based device. Radio and lightwaves only travel at lightspeed, but the effect of gravitational forces is instantanious. If we could find a way to focus “Gravity waves” in a specific direction, and build a “Gravity telescope” to recieve signals back, we would have a method of communication that defies all distances.
Eventually if the technology allowed it, we could be scanned and destroyed atom by atom, then that information sent using the communications array to a faraway star system and used to reassemble a copy of ourselves using a similar device on the other end, only seconds later. There you go: Instantanious intersteller travel…of sorts…
