This argument has split all my friends straight down the middle, I just wondered what everyone else thought. I favour Burger King myself because, although it is more pricey, its such better quality, has nuch nicer burgers and seems to be prepared in a more hygeinic environment. Also my cousin works in a McDonalds and…well put it like this, he wouldn’t eat there if you forced him to. But McDonalds isn’t running the crappy advertising campaign “ok but not bk” which is really starting to piss me off. Purely for quality of goods i vote for BK. What do you think?
Interesting statistic: It takes 46 seconds to make 6 of the Mcdonalds hamburgers from frozen. It take 1min20 secs for 6 quarter pounders…mmm anyone for a Big Mac?

i think i prefer mcdonalds… only because i know the menu (if you can call it that) better… burger king kind of confuses me, and none of the employees seem to speak a word of english. and you’re right, the “ok but not bk” is the biggest waste of money EVER… i haven’t seen a worse advert for quite a while.
burger king is the asda of fast-food. too many sour cucumbers. an advertising campaign that makes you want to leave the country. and the carrot of flame-grilled burgers leaving me limp.
macdonalds on the other hand, is the saviour of the homeless. i can’t stand these ignorant bois who denounce macdonalds just because it’s cheap, doesn’t serve you at the table, and doesn’t have the ingredients on the wrapping.
the double cheese burger is one of humanity’s finest achievements. it’s the most honest spiritual dish. wagner and a cheeseburger. drool.
i’m definitely going with the king on this one. and i am not denouncing macdonalds because its cheap, but because its simply not as nice. with burger king, you can convince yourself that what you’re eating doesn’t have any spinal cord in it. it LOOKS like beef.
however, the real reason i’m going with burger king is because i, personally, don’t trust any beefy produce from fast food places, so i settle for the chicken option. and BK offers a much wider selection of delicious chickeny meals. however, the dippy things are always limp, which is disappointing.
and i don’t know why everyone is bringing up the advertising thing. mcdonalds employed PAUL GASCOIGNE for their advertising. AND found it necessary to point out the amusing elements of the ad…pathetic.
like clarice i always go for the chicken option. and with these burgers i must say burger kings are far better. theres actually something in the burger, whereas macdonalds just doesnt quite cut it.
why even eat there? you may aswell just go kill the alsation yourself cos it would be alot more healthy than eating alsation/cardboard/E666/and whatever else happens to be near by McBurger Factory at that time.
the food from both places is crap. the price of both may be good but it is only so cheap at the expense of the people who work there. the packaging on both are crap. the ads for both are crap. the service is crap because nobody cares - "oh wow you’ve fired me from a minimum wage job, which can be replaced in about 5 mins, and whole idea of buying the same meal as everyone else seems pretty pointless.
i agree. i’d also like to say to any kingstonians … you always want to go for the bacon and avocado on granary with pepper and salad option from clock’s. not only is it nicer and healthier than either mcdonalds or Burger King, but it costs less and theres a spine-free guarantee. nice.
well… mcdonalds has the veggie deluxe… doesnt quite live up to it’s name, but its pretty nice imo. and my mcdonalds is nice and lets me have it with teh chicken premiere bun & sauce etc, which is good.
then we have burger king. thankfully they have now binned the filling but vile veggie whopper, and replaced it with the all new vegeburger… which is quite nice but pretty tiny. however, they ALSO have the spicy beanburger aswell… which is very nice but again is a bit small.
so there we have it… its a toss-up between either acceptable food, value etc, and a fixed menu… or a choice, with small portions and extortionate prices.
To be honest I think you are asking the wrong question. Why does there have to be a choice? Going into McDonalds once doesn’t mean you ALWAYS have to go in there. Sometimes I prefer a Burger King and sometimes I prefer a sliced gherkin in my left ear.
I never prefer a Wimpy. But that’s irrelevant.
I will usually choose McDonalds because a) it’s cheaper b) it’s alot cheaper because blair rich (a friend) works there. With regards to them using brains and tails of animals, so what? it still tastes good and hasn’t harmed a large enough percentage yet. (having said that i’ll probably die from CJD tomorrow).

why even argue over what is better, they are all the same, theres no variation in taste, texture but slightly in colour from light gray to medium gray - both menus are full of total crap, why can you not see that? all fast food is fowl, i don’t care who makes it it’s all just fat in a bun even that veggy crap.
unlike the majority of things discussed on the website i know what i am talking about here, everything sold in the wonderful “service industry” is shit. the food at McDonalds is shit. the clothes from Gap are shit. the playstation is shit. the 3-piece pine deck chair set from IKEA is shit.
add it all up and what is it worth - nothing. you be happy living your life with branded everything and see what it achieves, absolutely nothing, you will be nothing, when you die it won’t make a difference. that is what the world is like. strip away our playstations and £200 Nike trainers and we are all starving refugees, but you can’t see that, you just want the status of all these meaningless products.

I always preferred The Golden Arches to the King and would not even try BK it just wasnt OK for me. Whenever friends and I got together we would generally go to Mac D’s and I was happy.However I came to uni and on an outing with friends they all wanted to go to Burger King.So I had to haul ass over to Maccy D’s get y food and then eat it discreetly in B.King .Anyway on one of my journeys from uni to home I decided to try a cheese burger (thats what i have from MD ) from BK to see what it was like and lo and behold it was rather nice.I really like the flame grilled taste and much as i hate to admit mey friends were right. Havng said that I dont think I will totally reject Md’s but I weill definitely be going between both.
Also I used to work at MD’s I know bad idea but I was young and broke. It was ok for a while but wouldnt want to make a career of it.
this poll seems to have lost it’s initial momentum, probably cos its gone and got all political on us. I mean just because I eat at Burger King, doesn’t necessarily mean my life is “meaningless”. Going along with a similar logic, surely using a microsoft operating system doesn’t make you a very committed neo-communist right? I mean there are other alternatives, but microsoft is everywhere, you know what you’re getting when you buy a product and to some extents, it tastes ok…sorry…i mean it works ok.
“Meaningless” is a little harsh considering you know absolutely nothing about me and you’re basing that judgement purely on the fact that I eat at a fast food chain. Consider a world where you don’t have the freedom to express views that don’t comply with what the government stands for, where saying the kind of stuff you say again and again would result in exile or execution. At least we have the choice to decide where we eat and what we eat. No one forces anyone to eat in a fast food chain, it is shit, but a vast amount of people get off on it, or if you prefer it in more simplified terms - the revolutionary masses eat fast food because they’re hungry and they like the taste of it, not necessarily because their lives lack substance.
This is purely a light hearted poll, not a ponderence (is that a word?) on the deeper meaning of our lives-thats what the philosophy forums are for. Sorry to get all arsy but it pisses me off.

it isn’t just because you eat at mcdonalds that your life will not amount to anything, it is the system we are currently in - driven by the oppression of masses for the gain of the few.
as for the communism - as i have always maintained i’m not a communist, nor do i want a communist state as a result of socialism. i am currently trying to define where i land on the political spectrum.
Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks… its takes 2 minutes to make a run of hamburgers. Ok, still a short time, but think how lovely and fresh the food is. Well, if you go to a good restaurant. And if the food you want isn’t there, only 2 minutes to wait for fresh food.
However how fresh is BK food? While McDs openly ‘hold’ their food in a hot production bin, what do BK do? Hold it round the back for half an hour and then in the bin as well! This is why their food looks better - the lettuce hasn’t had time to heat up… in actual fact the meat is fukkered. Oh yeah, and flame grilled taste? It’s seasoning put on in the factory before the meat is frozen; the meat is ‘cooked’ on filament tubes.
But I do agree with the majority, although more sly, BK tastes better.
As for the advertising campaigns, yeah there have been some shoddy ones, but at the same time lots of the Happy Meal ads are brilliant. Just think of that little kiddies face lighting up when he sees the Golden Arches/Ronald McDonald. So true. Bk have nothing like that to play on. You’ll find that McDs holds its huge market over the years by getting kids interested in them in this way from an early age, they just keep coming back. Nyak, BK lovers are the non-conformists.
Chicken options are wikked: premier, wrap, nuggets, chicken mayo, chicken & ketchup burger. Certainly more at McDs than BK.
And yup, Wimpy is certainly a non contender - I heard that all restaurants were franchised off a few years back. The remaining ones are Nepalese cafes with a hint of red decor.
