Introduce yourself here <-----

This is the place to shave off that long white beard and stop being philosophical; a forum for members to just talk like normal human beings.

Yes I will try, Abstract. Firstly, that should have said metal plates.
Secondly, the radius is one of the bones in the forearm. The
head of my radius, the bit where it becomes part of the elbow joint,
was shattered beyond repair, so the surgeons replaced it with
something very similar to my original, unbroken radial head,
only made of plastic and metal.
At the elbow, where the three bones of the arm (radius, ulna, humourus)
come together, I had shattered the heads (ends) of them all.
The injury is descibed as a dislocation fracture.
I don't really know what else to say about it.

Ow is right. It still causes me a lot of pain now.
There are a great many nerves running through the
elbow, so any injury around that area is very painful.
My consultant has told me to expect it to cause me pain
for the rest of my life...

On another subject; my interest in philosophy, etc. is
very new. I never studied philosophy at university, it
has only been a leisure pursuit.
I have read very few philosophy books (I'm currently
reading my third), and a few quotes from the internet.

Lifting was, for me, the ultimate physical test. Now I can
no longer do it, but philosophy, etcetra is every bit as
challenging, just mentally challenging, rather than
physical.

I don't think philosophy is going to help you dan, but it couldn't hurt, as long as it's the right philosophy. :)

I possess an avid interest in philosophy and the speculative sciences, whatever they may be. I find though, as I am relatively new at the "esoteric" or "internal" genre of "sub-liminal" literature in these areas, that I lack some of the experience I am not willing to wait for.

In this vein, I come here to learn.

I will probably read more than post, and when I do post, it will likely be in an interrogative fashion. :x

Hi all,

Just joined. Im mostly looking for stimulating conversation but see opportunity for networking also.

I am housebound and unable to work as I suffer from M.E. I have a lot of free time but rarely have the energy to be active so my forum activity comes and goes in phases, lol

My main interests right now I would list as follows (in no particular order)...

Geopolitics, Anthropology, Geology, Cosmology, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology & various specific areas of world history, geography & physics.
First & moremost though I consider myself a philosopher.

It is late and I cannot post much tonight but I thought I'd introduce myself (properly, lol), and greet you all so hey! :)

A neurological condition which affects the nervous system. Google the wikipedia page for info if you like.
Basically my body has insuffucient energy because the cells don't produce enough and what little i have is diverted to the immune system.

I truly hate biology so I haven't undertaken any significant effort to understand the medical side of it to be honest. Plus a lot of it is still unknown/contested; and political too.
20 years ago few people knew M.S. but today its a lot more well known. I assume the same will happen with M.E. once more is known about it.

You could google 'me/cfs wiki' and it should lead to more info.

Hey, my name is Donna. I have schizophrenia. This photo was taken the night I had my first psychotic break, which was about two weeks ago. Things are much better now that the inward man has broken through the outward man. Now I can just exist without conflict. It's truly beautiful, I might burst.

Sounds rough. When were you diagnosed? As a child or just recently?

13 when i had it but twas mild until i was 23 then it became severe and i finally was diagnosed. It is not an easy thing to get diagnosed (especially back then), and no regular GP will diagnose it. I've heard cases of doctors who have had it and been afraid to tell their colleagues because of the general attitude Docs have toward it.
I think that doctors generally do not like to be told something which was not covered when they were in med school. They like to feel that the PhD gives them 'expert' status and that an expert cannot be wrong when the patient is right.

Sorry lol just a little rant about medical doctors, who have always been a thorn in my side.
