The Tree of Life

A beautiful movie which addresses the issues of nature and grace and the problem of evil in the context family life and images of contemporary cosmology.

Hated the film since it’s basically an affirmation of faith.

Having said that, the cinematography was great and Brad Pitt was very good as usual.

I thought the movie was garbage. I was so disappointed, as I’d been waiting to see it for quite a while.
It was an average, boring and absolutely pointless film.
1.5/5

I liked it a lot. I admit that parts of it were a little dull, but overall I appreciated its style and perspective. I like that The Tree of Life leaves the job of narration up to you. It’s like you make up the story as you watch. It’s a series of scenes and events without any formal cohesion or any of the typical artifices of plot. It’s the kind of movie that makes one feel vulgar in trying to pinpoint the “plot.”

i guess i was just expecting more, but i honestly don’t know why

if you want to see a masterpiece, pick up a copy of Antichrist
the literal story being told is f’d up, but the film itself is so beautiful

Pretentious, self-important, and agonizingly dull.
