I really find it hard to watch a whole movie through due to the ‘bells and whistles’ formulaic production of most films to make it appeal to a wide audience.
For example as a fan of star trek Ive just been watching one of their movies (first contact) and I found it almost unbearable.
I get this characteristic tingly feeling in my body and feel like Im being manipulated and feel my consciousness being lowered with all the stupid gross little bits they add to make it ‘saleable’
Its like ‘big budget’ all movies are the same- star trek certainly had lost its star trek feel to me and was just another movie to appeal to the masses. Those stupid things like when the guy is going into warp and and he shouts ‘wow this is crazy’ or something lame to that effect so the crowd of morons would laugh at it.
That kind of stuff makes me cringe.
Obviously indie films and such dont have this but star trek has succumbed to this big budget crap which makes me wanna stay clear of any of the other films now.
It’s almost as though someone thought, “Hey, this forumla of exploding things and sex really brings them in. How may we apply this to every plot we ever want to make?”
Basically he was poking fun at you, ironically, because of what you said before. Mind you it’s ah well if you have to explain it it aint funny. It is just a joke.
In a thread, not even devoted to anything related to it, where I just happened to mention 9/11 once you came in with a full windup finger point exclamation: “I KNEW IT!!!” like you had been sitting there twisting your mustache in contemplation for weeks. It was so random and out of left field (and consequently funny to me) I just thought I would, out of nowhere, do the same thing to you.
