What is this art style called?

I’ve only seen it in the art for a few Games, Empire Total War, Napoleon Total war and Civilization V specifically.

They seem quite similiar to me.

digital art?

See here: browse.deviantart.com/digitalart/

Stoic, the art style would generally be classified as Realism but if you’re talking about the method or the medium used to get those effects, they’ve been done by digital painting software (as Volchok said) – almost certainly using Corel’s Painter. Some may have used other digital software to enhance the end result as well.

If the link above doesn’t work, go to Corel.com and to the product called Painter 12. About a third of the way down, click on the ‘gallery’ tab. I think this is what you mean?

What i mean is alot of it seems to be done in broad strokes of patches and crosshatches , but what i’m getting at is it seems very obscure yet detailed at the same time.

I undestand that some stuff Civ V does in game is art deco, but this doesn’t seem the same as that.
