Immortality exists already, how can it be created? To keep the individual of a time limited species alive, is antiimmortal.
The purpose of a limited genetic code to be written into our molecules so that they may commit ‘apoptosis’ to naturally propagate a self-intelligent balance was to eliminate the possibility of eternal suffering and entrapped errors. Cell suicide was a mandatory script in the biological system, when intelligence was not as evolved as it is now. However, times have changed; there is a New Consciousness being created throughout the Self-Intelligent System we call “The Universe”. First, there was “Machine Consciousness”; the existential experience of survival and becoming a self-aware animal. Secondly, there was “Human Consciousness”; the existential experience of “living”, “thinking” & “feeling” into the “Heart Complex”, “Mind Complex” & “Intuit Complex”. Finally, the “New Consciousness” is the “Mind Consciousness”; the existential experience of being more than a third dimensional creature in a physical realm that is connected to a non-physical Higher Power that many just call “God” without any define reason behind it or understanding of the actual potential of the Universe and its “Design Complex”. Our brains are connected to the Creator, The Universe. Everything around us appears to be physical, when it is not. This physical world is an atomic paradox created on a quantum level which rapidly recreates itself in different forms, on different scales of perception [as above, so below]. Commonly people choose their limited senses over the unexpected forces of Nature, so they use words such as “nothing”, “pointless” & “doesn’t exist” when their own limited senses cannot pick up on the very acute details of Nature, which harbors its geometric/genetic patterns and secrets. We as people have forgotten our true potential as we live for our society and family, rather than our Universality. We are living in a life trapped inside a box which is surrounded by “The Life”, which is “The Nature” & “The Universe”; the non-prejudice system that gave us “Free Will” mixed with “Sensory Limitations” so that we may experience a multitude of feelings and reactions throughout our time living, whilst disallowing us from becoming what is equivalent to a game character using cheat codes to defy the Laws Of Nature.
What you say is true yet, not totally. A species even though individual based is a hive. Does the species come first or the individual? We have the ability to bring extinct species to life again, pretty damn cool. We can create new species, pretty cool too. We can clone, we can do so much but, its like having all the tools to build a house, know how to use each tool, having all the material to build a house but, not knowing how to build a house or knowing if we should build anything.
