Let me explain.
Christianity is a revealed religion - God revealed his will through the Word of Jesus the Christ.
In the Gospel, Jesus passes the authority for the forgiveness of sins to Peter when Peter correctly recgonised that Jesus was the Messaiah. And through the Sacred Tradition of the Catholic Church. the power which Jesus passes down to peter, to the Fathers, down the generation to us. It is a living Liturgy of faith that links us to the very beginning of the promise of salvation.
Catholicism unlike Protestanism, which is in Protest to Catholicism is not an invented religion. It was revealed to us by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
