Message of the Bible is very reliable!

Sure the gospels are reliable
You can rely on them to remain works of fiction, atributed to authors that didn’t write them.

Petri, good site. Just wondering about putting in Genesis I in with the New Testament as literal history. Now to mention it, much of the Gospels can be taken figuratively as well. God certainly could have made things happen figuratively, but I’m not sure classical theology allows for more than one kind of interpretation to a text (which was a slight matter of contention at the college I went to).

Also wondering about the time the Gospels were written compared to the time the epistles were written. Have heard some of the epistes were written first. A slight problem – possibly – to Peter’s profession that he has not taught stories and the Gospels being included in that.

Nevertheless a pretty good site for witness.

take the message personal, don’t believe the messenger.
(Bible)/(God)=(Fact)/(Fiction)
Regain control over you reality, you don’t have to involve religion
24/7 or even 96/4.

I think when anyone tells people how they should be thinking it can potentially become dangerous. In the end faith is something that can’t be forced. But I think the gospels can be reliable depending on how you use them. People can get caught up on the facts of Christ and forget that what’s important is the message, not if he was litterally the son of God, or whether he existed at all.

Hello F(r)iends,

Forgive the mindless masses if they don’t just take your word for it…
How 'bout you actually stop preaching your truth and provide proof instead. Lest you be accused for believing similarly to our poor lost sheeple…

The reliability of the bible is irrelevant in regards to an individuals faith… That is- if they HAVE real faith…

the reliability of the bible must be questioned.
For example, of the 4 books that talk of jesus,
the earliest one written was around 80 ad.
a good 40 years after jesus died. I would be like
a guy wrote of the assassination of JFK and, who died in 1963,
and the biography was written 2003. Heck, we still don’t even
know about JFK death and that has been researched to death
in the last 40 years. Research with science, films, photos.
The biblical writers had none of the tools we have today.
All they had was memory and let me tell you, memory is
a very dicey thing to depend on. I can’t even remember
what I had for breakfast, little less 3 or 5 or 20 years ago.
Yet, you would take memories that are 40 years and call
them dependable? I don’t see that going very far.
So if you can’t trust the more recent books, how
can you trust the older books. Stories that were passed
around for generations before being written down.
From a strictly factual standpoint, you cannot trust the
bible anymore then you could call a book of fiction,
a real true life story.

I agree in that its not the facts that are important to Faith but the message.

i don’t tell people what to think,i tell them what i think, there’s a difference Mani.
