Introduce yourself here <-----

This is the place to shave off that long white beard and stop being philosophical; a forum for members to just talk like normal human beings.

It would seem to me that simplicity is a matter of point of view. and as such to find it one need only change their mind... but yes a philosophy forum can do that to a person.

God Satyr is suck a martyr, snot like he's even permanently banned apparently. He certainly takes pretentiousness to a new level though. Sort of person I'd like to have around, simply because at least his bitter rants and assertions of superiority would be fun to poke fun at.

Makes me want to join that forum just to say this: what a whiney mf get over yourself, and get out more, its only the internet.

Yeah, he takes himself too seriously, unless thats just the persona he wants to portray for the fun of it. All those insults he tosses around like they don't wear out do seem pretty childish, like an overgrown baby who was never breastfed and is still unhappy about it. Just wanted to add, that I still think aside from the insults, he has things to say that i find entertaining, and some thought provoking

From what I have gathered Satyr is a smart person...but on the other side of nihilism which sets him apart from most of the typical views in the world...nonetheless he has some rather (though controversial) intriguing observations...

What bothers me personally of him the most is his tendency to Hyper-generalize, and to read in his (often good) psychological interpretations to a degree that leads to assumptions of what is being meant by what is said. And he is horrible at providing Logical charity... he seems to assume the stupid meaning of what you said at times rather then even his own if it fits...

Those on the "other side" of nihilism as you have put it, the lone wolves...it's usually it's best to just let them talk to themselves. Besides, they should know, if they really felt the way the did, they should just shut the fuck up already and laugh at the rest of us for shuffling about in the way we do, clucking away like fowls. Isn't that how we are viewed by those self-recognized to be, superior to all man-kind in their intellect and overall "point-of-view"? If your philosophy is leading you to believe that what philosophy engages in, is an utter waste of time, then shut the fuck up already and stop thinking about shit you already know is completely inconsequential. What you usually find is that these individuals are rarely comfortable, their problems likely extend far beyond their "existential horror". They are usually struggling to find peace in their life, angry and confused. It is confusing when one tries to understand the nature of reality, if you believe that you have the ability to know things that you really cannot know. You laugh and say "What the fuck does it matter?" "Nothing matters, hahaha" When you live with this mindset, it does seem rather comical, even comforting at times, to know that nothing matters. We all need a bit of comic relief, especially when we are staring down a bottomless pit. Of course, this is crucial for every individual to go through. Do not think that you have ever reached the destination, keep walking, keep looking, keep searching, because you have not seen everything yet.

That's just my opinion of the matter...

When I say other side of nihilism I mean one that has experienced it yet moved on... satyr is of the type that is beyond discomfort of the reality and is at peace, yet he is just pessimistic, and to confident in his opinions at times.

Hello everybody! I'm a anarchist and I like to philosophize. I've come here as a prophet of doom and disciple of chaos to reign on everybody's party. Please excuse my mess or level of disarray on my way in here.

So, how is everybody? I myself and doing horrible. Thanks for asking.

Existential angst plays well here if you want to moan or gripe about how shit life is. :)

Watcha btw. :D

Not that this one is in any way worse than that one.

I was banned for iterating my points on seperate lines but I'd been a member here for ages before I made the mistake of being contentious, ie daring (horror of horrors) to say that the continuum hypothesis cannot and will not ever have a physical application. Which apparently although true - its a hypothesis for a start and is unprovable without reliance on axiom - is pseudo philosophy. Or as they put it does not meet up to the high standard (of absolute conformity to a religion presumably) they expect.

That place is pretty lame. It's a crap hole for pretentious idiots, and that's putting it mildly. Sort of a blind cult leading the blind to their religion and eventual demise when they've finished their cyanide cocktails and the mothership takes them away. That place is not a philosophy forum it is a conformist paradise.

Beware all those who enter unless you be sucked down to their level.

You are probably right this forum does a blinding job of attracting members from that site, for which this site should be thankful of the service. Bring us your independent thinkers, your repressed and incorrigible defiant masses.

Complain? Nonsense! I'm here to mock and make fun of life for how absurd it all is.

Even though I feel horrible now I'm actually somewhat happy and smug to be honest.

Haven't you heard? The global dark ages are upon us all. I'm the motherf*cking barbarian at the gates.

I feel like my every fiber of my being and existence has all come together for this grand pinnacle of human history.

I feel nothing but esteemed pride to be able to partake in it all. :banana-dance:

What were you saying about existential angst again?

Dark ages? Meh. Barbarians? Meh. I don't see either. I see a world attending Disney Land with a few out of order rides and some rain clouds. Aside from the deteriorating cotton candy and a few folks demanding refunds, everything's as peachy as ever. Allow some time for that metaphor to sink in.

Hmmm...I thought you were using the picture for illustrative purposes, as the current consensus is that Sapiens was descended from Ergaster...

Anywho, if your meaning of barbarian is variant apes, sure. But we are pretty damned advanced apes, regardless. No other ape has traced its origin to a common ancestor living around two million years ago.

We could be quite barbaric compared to a much older alien race...
