"Save the 'I'm sorry[s] for the really important things".
People say "I'm sorry" for the most ridiculous reasons. How many people have bumped into me in a store and said "I'm sorry" when an 'excuse me' and a smile (or no smile) will suffice. I always tell them with a smile to save the "I'm sorry[s]" for the really important things. And then I usually see the epiphany forming on their face..."ah yes". But so true.
And then there are those who would never utter those words - no matter what. Too much fear of a deflated ego...it takes real humility and self-awareness to know when to be sorry - or not.

Another favorite of mine is "Don't say the 'P' word!", but it's kind of an inside joke. Okay fuck it, here's how the conversation went down -

This reminded me of an often used saying: someone says "I am sorry", the other person says" I know you, are now apologize"
I have had it done to me. it will either break the ice and make both laugh or it will less often cause more issues. I laugh when I get zinged with it.
