This male dancer makes me smile. =D> He is such an enabler, letting her get so high that she is lost in the music, but I wouldn’t mind watching his hair whipping around too. :evilfun:

Dimitri Vegas- Hey Baby- Leo Gomes & Ana Paula Gomes (Wow, what a partnership built in trust! A most excellent example of a man and woman complimenting one another’s abilities. Learn to dance folks!) A festival that I would have enjoyed even more in person.

Mr. and Mrs. No Sense of Rhythm Whatsoever. Completely detached from the music. Nothing in their movement represents, imitates or simulates anything within the music. They are just doing their own thing on top of the music thus suffocating it. The music is treated like a some kind of background noise and it makes sense in a way since it’s a piece of you-know-exactly-what.

Dancing isn’t merely about making impressive movements. It is about listening to the music and then choosing which parts of it you want to imitate using your body. The more of it you try to imitate and the better you do so, the better you are dancing. What these guys are doing is they are completely ignoring the music in order to be able to do whatever they want to do (whatever they think looks impressive from the point of view of spectators.)

I guess you are not a fan of Brazilian couples dance styles then. It is a lot of hair flipping and dizzying spinning, but that’s the style and the couples were freestyling some of the stylized moves in a relaxed way. Chill on the hate!

You don’t agree wtih me?

No, their rhythm was fine but their performance was a bit intimate (the chemistry between them almost made me blush…that male dancer was making sexy eyes). :stuck_out_tongue: :astonished:

Those pants! So distracting. No, he doesn’t seem to be very close to her in my opinion; he moves more like he’s her chiropractor or something. Here, hold me while I stretch my back and neck, and maybe dry my hair too while I’m at it. Now… if this was a some kind of Brazilian chiropractic session then we might have something good going on here. I’d be down for that, as long as he holds me while I twist myself around. But really, here he’s more like her personal moving barre.

How about this video? Here we have a different problem. His moves are aligned with the music but they are strange, awkward, unattractive moves. Sure, they are difficult to perform, but is that enough to impress people? Judging from the reactions of the jury, I guess it is.

Breakdancing can be impressive but it can never be dancing. It is a form of athletics that mostly revolves around headspinning, handspinning and backspinning. There’s more to it than that, I guess, but most of it is just plain stupid (robot moves are just plain stupid.)

It’s just a bunch of annoying, noisy, men pretending to be dancing when in fact they are just performing martial arts moves. (I’d like to see martial arts moves in the context of dancing but so far I’ve never seen it done well.)
