So, what is your favorite at-home fusion food? I don’t mean the sort of haute-cuisine you and your friends make each other, I mean the honest sort. When you, the sensitive multicultural individual that you are, come home and just mash some things together?
Mine is Chorizo-falafel. Take some uncooked falafel and mix it 50/50 with some chorizo. Pan-fry those suckers and serve 'em on a pita with tzatziki. In a pinch, just have some cooked chorizo with tzatziki on a pita. Delicious, drunk or sober. What about you, any easy recommendations?
I just take whatever looks green in the fridge, or resembles sausage, whatever hard cheese is around - shred it/dice it/slice it, mix it with cubes of old bread, a couple of eggs beaten with milk and salt/pepper, chuck the whole lot into a big frying pan with some olive oil, and make something that looks like the bastard son of an omlette and a pizza.
People here seem to think it a new thing, but in Iran, people drink aragh (substitute with ouzo/vodka) with potato chips which is complemented with yogurt mixed with short cucumber peels. I’ve had this several times with whiskey as well and it was fantastic. Good for the quiet nights or when people are over.
I also put ketchup on my pizzas/pasta. Apparently it’s an irregular thing to do. Pizza has a tomato sauce base, bolognese speaks for itself. Never figured that one out.
A PB&J( J may be Strawberry or Grape) double stacked(3pieces of wheat bread, sourdough is best) with with sweet honey granola cereal smashed inside and a huge glass of ice cold whole milk. Add a sliced just slightly over ripe bananna in the sandwich at it truly is a piece of heaven.
Take a soft taco shell, put three pieces of sandwich pepperoni and three pieces of hard salami on it. Then, put two pieces of provolone and two of swiss on top of that, slice up a Roma tomato and put it on, and then sprinkle Mexican blend cheese on top of all of it.
Nuke it for thirty seconds, fold in half and consume.
