A fun quiz

We’re all consumers. Take this quiz and see just how guilty you are

It’s painless and interesting to see how you stack up against your national average…

I came in well below the national average in all categories. I love feeling morally superior…

20.72

A bit naughty, if everyone were like me, we’d need 1.32 earths to survive.

Well, you beat me. We’d need at least 2.2 earths for me. But hey, I’m an American. What can you expect? :unamused:

5.9

-Imp

According to the test we would need 4.78 worlds for my lil old family style.

Fuckin’ 'ell, do you guys make yourselves a burger by napalming a cowfield and throwing the excess away…?

Five point 'kin nine…? That’s in the realm of “Yes, I go to work via Saturn V”.

:astonished:

I’m an O:)

Yeah, but we got bacon! Trouble is, we get it from a store 30 miles away who got it from a producer 2000 miles away… :frowning: The only way Americans can really make a difference is to go homeless and live out of whatever they can find in the dumpsters. :unamused:

This test just augments the need for regionalization, which is going to happen whether we reduce our carbon footprint or not. Frugality, austerity, or any other name you want to attach, it’s going to happen. Having 20% of the world population consuming 80% of everything available is over. The euphemism “down-sizing” isn’t just a PC term anymore. It’s reality.

I did say we had more than 5 people living here. I figure dogs and cats leave footyprints too. If I can’t afford organics and such how the heck can I afford to pay for that credit stuff they mentioned? They sure do not take in the costs of being green. Its alot more expensive.

I got a 4.63 - wow, that’s embarrassing. :frowning:

[I guess I’m gonna have to get rid of a couple of the kids or something.] :-"

Did I miss something? I thought that was a parent’s plan in the first place. I wondered why I was getting all those funny looks. #-o

Umm, send 'em to reform school. Yeah! That’s it! You can visit them once a month and they’ll be solid citizens contributing to the economy making license plates while they get their GED.

4.99 earths. Well, I’m not too good. At least I didn’t go over the country average for any of the categories.

Though for food footprint my score was less than half the country average. Being vegan brought me down like 30 points there.

hey can we give them kids in exchange for those footprint credit thingys? Or do husbands give you more credit?

Kris,

Either one would do, but only if they’re speyed.

The four legged kids are all fixed, I told my husband to save money I would take care of his neutering. He did not find it funny when I came at him with dull scissors. He simply refuses to give up the gold. He won’t get snipped.Coward

So many flowers… what is a bee without a stinger?

There are more one-liners, but I think it best to leave it alone… :sunglasses:

2.56 Earths, though I may have lowballed that slightly because I really have no idea how many miles I drive a year.

Folks, can you see the pattern here? I doubt that anyone considers themselves a profligate consumer, and many of the things that “ups” our scores are built into the ways our cultures are physically structured.

Now consider: Half of the world’s population is doing their damndest to have all the physical realities we enjoy in the west. China and India are going to consume just like the industrialized nations of the west. Does anyone see the trainwreck coming? :astonished:

Does this mean we role modeled the world into perdition? :astonished: How come we have to take the blame again? No one told the other countries to follow our ways. It was their choice. But ,nnnnoooo, The US being the youngest gets all the blame again for everyone in the world being human and greedy. We are again held up as a bad influence. Doggone it our people come from all over, its the cultures that came here that have influenced the US culture. So it can’t be the US’s fault its everyone elses. :-"
