a new jesus is here

a new jesus is here…and we haven’t realized the significance…there is the old jesus…so he now has a sibling…
the sib is the scientist…this new scientist jesus has come to save us from ignorance…and this new jesus may save our lives…
praise be to both of our jesus humans…

I will add another feature…the new jesus is a female scientist who will discover the cause and cure of cancer…it will be a woman…she will save our lives…and it wont be just a wish or hope…

And she will have a black lover, be a computer genius, and work for the DHS, NSA, or FBI.
:-k

this post has a serious side…the church people need to start accepting the new science person jesus…that is necessary for our survival…i see my church not understanding science…they still think god controls asteroids…

Cannabis already treats cancer as well as some other plants. Look’s like she’s a little too late. I love all of humanity/life, I have a beard and can put on a white robe, am I “Jesus”? I also have purple.

You can take what Dan said at face value or dig deeper. I suggest the latter…

kris I agree…I am going to take this post to the serious side…I am tired of all the COOL stuff…I am not cool…
we need a new jesus…the old jesus is good…but we need a female jesus in addition…and who is saving lives now…
the scientist…the researcher…not the doctor…

Why exactly does it need to be a female ‘jesus’ again? If I claimed I was a close interpretation to/of “Jesus” without the mystical powers I would only be claimed egotistical by a vast majority, along with probably anyone else who claimed it as well.

Yin yang perhaps.

But one is gone or perhaps never even existed at all, so then how could there be the balance if one is gone but the other is now?

The body maybe gone or never existed but, the influences good and bad remain. It is the male female influence that could create a balance.

I like to think of influence as positive/negative rather than “good” or “evil”. Similarly darkness and light, destruction and creation, chaos and order.

I don’t suspect anyone will care, but this entire thread is blasphemous to a Christian.

Blasphemy aside, what does it even mean to say we “need a new Jesus”?

Turtle can’t mean that our soteriological and/or covenantal situation has changed, thus requiring a new sacrifice or a new character to fill the role that Jesus filled in the New-Covenant. He can’t mean that, because that is nonsense within Christian theology and incoherent. There’s no way he can reconcile a “call for a new Jesus” with Christian theology, especially orthodox and confessional Protestantism.

Maybe, instead of offering some theological proposition here, Turtle is speaking poetically? Perhaps he realizes how strongly beliefs in the nature of Jesus have affected Western Civilization, and he’s merely saying that we need to replace this poetic sentiment towards Christ, with poetic sentiment towards some new character (or, class of characters, as the case may be).

Of course, if this is what Turtle means, it’s little more than intellectual snobbery, offered without argument.

Perhaps both of my interpretations are incorrect, and Turtle means a third option that I haven’t even considered?

He means that we have a new messiah who will save us. All hope and expectation is centered on this savior.

Our own personal responsibility for saving ourselves and the world has been abandoned. Have faith and do nothing.

I have no disagreement to that.

What people need and what want are very different things.

And actually, they already tried this idea of a female savior with Amanda Tapping in the 10 year TV series Stargate SG1 and also Stargate Atlantis. Tapping played the role of Super Supreme Samantha Carter, starting off as a lowly lieutenant feminist, in the USAF, “Professor Doctor Carter, Sir”, expert in literally all things, quantum physics, medicine, kung fu, humanitarianism, computers, time travel, fighter pilot,… And by the end of the serious she was the World Security Supreme Commander.

She then followed up that series with another 5 year series, Sanctuary as Helen Magus, a humble victim with magical superpowers yet unTapped. Five years later, after thwarting 100’s of evil white men, the series ended with her being crucified on a cross along with two of her cohorts, promoting her to Savior Goddess.

Next step up … President and Supreme Commander Armed Forces (and anything else desired) of the USA.

I thought that you didn’t watch TV. :-k

I didn’t and don’t.
I just know things. :sunglasses:

Sanctuary only ran for 4 seasons. I don’t think that she was crucified in the last episode.

It might have been only 4, but she was definitely crucified. I saw that part.

And…
