So me and a co-worker were discussing the fear/nature aspect earlier and we arrived at an interesting point of which may hold no significance at all but might still be interesting to think about.
Basically he was explaining a what if scenario as in when we die, it was along the lines of “we spread across the cosmos and see all of what is”. I had thought about this for a moment and it dawned on me.
What if the reason we do not know what happens in death or cannot know for that matter is due to the fact that if we did know, life would be meaningless?
For example, what if death is so beautiful, so magnificently awe inspiring that if we were born into life knowing what it fully was we would just commit suicide, seeing as there would be no point in life or experiencing if we already knew it was beautiful on the other side. Why would we want to live here, when we could see all beauty across the cosmos.
This is also from the stand point/view that experience is the ultimate goal of living, experience of which expands the Universe. As in we are the universe manifested in physical organic life forms experiencing new things daily in unique ways of living or perspectives that ultimately expand the very essence of what we are, aka the universe.
I would say its logical to be spawned out of the universe, experience it until death and then die. I would say its not logical for the universe to exist to begin with.
There are phenomenal events that have happened in history to raise question by now. See the problem with science is dismissal like that. I am sure somehow it can be investigated or something humans can do to figure it out.
That’s plenty of reason to look into psychology and the complexities of the mind. I looked into all of these things, none of it points to existence beyond death. It does point to ones wishful desires of life beyond death being manifested in NDE.
A buddhist will dream of Buddha, a Christian will dream of Jesus. Coincidence? I think not.
Yes life after death, we all get to be all knowing. We then get to be a god of our own parallel universe. DMT told me so, it came in a revelation of utter clarity that made me feel so good, it had to be right. It just couldn’t be wrong if you feel that good. Yeeah man, high five.
I’m an atheist firstly, and secondly it has nothing to do with being a god or any of that, it is just interesting to think about it all, like with your mind man, you know? That thing inside your head? Where we use it to question interesting things?
The consciousness is a product of the brain. There’s no reason to think otherwise. Yes it’d be lovely if our minds can go all these places after death, because its not a product of the brain, but unfortunately again, there’s no ground to stand on here. Wishful thinking. Who wouldn’t want it to be that way? But reality isn’t welcoming to fantasy like this. You need reason, and in philosophy we provide reasons. Psychology explains all the things you mentioned above as far as what you thought were reasons for this. Consciousness is obviously a product of the brain, but people want it to be something more. So they start believing its something more because it makes them feel good, then they start building philosophies off their belief and cozy warm feeling inside. Their mind then floats away into the sky never to be grounded in reality, as it were, ironic isn’t it? That’s a metaphor in case you didn’t catch it.
Well then how are some other living things able to be conscious without having a brain? How does that work exactly if it is completely physical and chemical.
