the question of evidence belongs to the Kantian questions,
one of which is ''What can I know?" and ''What should I believe in?"
Why should we hold these beliefs but not those beliefs?
the MAGA crowd believes that the 2020 election was stolen,
but where is the evidence? Over 60 judges, 60 including the
US Supreme Court rejected the ‘‘evidence’’ presented
attempting to prove that the election was stolen…Just the
sheer number of judges rejecting the MAGA argument of a
stolen election, must give one pause…
and on the back side, there is plenty of evidence, gathered
by those who deal with these things, including GOP election
officials, that the 2020 election was one of the cleanest
elections in American history… the safeguards in place protecting
elections security worked and worked quite well… that is
part of the evidence that the 2020 election wasn’t stolen…
there are hoops one has to jump through to vote… you
can’t just show up, make up a name and vote…
it doesn’t work that way…and there is no evidence of any kind,
that mail in ballots are fraudulent…
but this is the point I am making… the evidence is there to
show that the 2020 election was a fair and safe election…
but the MAGA crowd takes it on faith that the 2020 election
was stolen…
and therein lies the difference… the way we process evidence…
is it taken on faith or is it looked at, researched, reasoned with?
the question revolves around how we approach evidence…
do we take it on faith or do we reason it out? do we seek out
the evidence showing what the ‘‘truth’’ is? Therein lies the
difference between the right and left in America… the right
takes evidence on faith, the left does not…
One might argue that is wrong, but look at the facts…
who promotes religion in schools? Who wants the 10
commandments in schools? Who believes in faith base
schools? it isn’t the left… A conservative is far more likely
to believe in god than a liberal…and that is evidence we
can prove… according to Pewersearch, 78% of conservatives
believe in god… and 85% of those believe in the Christian religion…
with only 1% of conservatives claiming to be Atheist…
the conservative holds to faith and belief, as part of their core
beliefs… 70% of conservatives hold to the importance of religions in
one’s life…
that only 15% of liberals participate in prayer, scripture study or
religious education whereas 36% of conservatives do participate in
such studies…
that only 45% of liberals believe in god… that only 36% of liberals
believe in the importance of religions in one’s life… that only
22% of liberals go to church at least once a week, whereas
50% of conservatives go to church once a week…
that belief in an absolute standard for right and wrong,
48% of conservatives believe in an absolute standard for
right and wrong… that only 19% of liberals believe in an
absolute standard for right and wrong…
and again, all this information comes from the Pew research center…
the basic nature of being conservative is done by faith base
methods… not logic or reasoning or even by education…
it is a ‘‘gut’’ feeling, and that is the entire method of the
conservatives’ way of thinking about things…
they take things based on faith…
the liberals believe in science, medicine, education, logic,
rational thought… and thus, they approach
questions such as the 2020 election, with an emphasis
on evidence and facts… that is the liberal MO…
what facts or evidence is there for a particular belief?
and the question “What can we know?” is by reasoning, logic,
evidence and facts…
In fact, part of the attack of the right on the left is the left’s
belief in science… conservatives are anti-science and
anti-education… look at IQ45 4 year attack on public schools…
and his current proposal to eliminate the Federal department
of Education… that is part of the right attack on education…
or look at Desantis attack on education in Florida… the removal
of schoolbooks from libraries…and the ongoing attack on
universities and colleges… attempting to take them over
and turning them into religious schools, as he did in one
college… the New College of Florida…
the point of education isn’t about religious thought, but about
learning to think for oneself… but in America today, we use
college/universities as a job training facility… colleges are
simply workplace training… and what is lost is the
most important part of an education, discovering
who one is… People change jobs all the time and the
job skills that one learns in college is quite often not the skills
that one will use in a career or job… thus, showing us the
rather pointless nature of the job training in colleges…
and one skill that is learned in college, is not to take
ideas or beliefs on faith… to seek out the evidence
and facts to prove one’s point, not to take it on faith…
in writing a paper in college, one can’t use faith as
part of the paper’s analysis… any paper written in
collage must have facts and evidence backing it up
or the paper is graded an ‘‘F’’…
the entire turn of college is to find and use facts and
evidence to create an argument or a defense of some
idea… and that is against the mindset of the conservatives…
what mindset do you use? do you search for facts, evidence
or do you use faith to justify your beliefs?
Most people here use faith…
