Maybe not to you, but the work I did after twenty five was significantly more valuable and essential than work I did before twenty five. This is not condescending, just a perspective we do not share.
If many people had not found the ugly ones worth mating with, there would be no ugly ones. Beauty is subjective.
This speaks to my point, sex, and the needs for social interaction and reproduction, while related, are significantly different things. If sex is not defined as the act, and all the factors going into it can be defined in other terms, your question becomes very unclear.
I’m not sure what level of what you are referring to. Without sex I may well still have had children, though I certainly would have avoided the negative experiences I have had with women. Without the distraction of sexual concerns I may well have had a much less stressful time interacting socially.
I did not intend to be condescending. While I found the statement that people over the age of twenty five were ‘‘not very valuable perhaps but essential nonetheless.’’ was condescending, ageist, ill informed, libelous, etc … Instead of going off about it, I just said I found it funny, so maybe you would think about it.
To your original point, consider the growth of the Reverend Moons church/society, with arranged marriages the drive and associated activities are largely absent, and these people live in communal groups, promoting a greater social interaction than in our society.
Two beautiful people don’t necessarily perpetuate the line. I’ve seen more pretty offspring from ugly parents than I have beautiful ones from beautiful parents. In the end, it is about settling for one person who is within your reach; not many men can marry models. Regardless, actual reproduction is not the issue. I’m saying that sex, without procreation, is an instinctive act and men will generally relying on instinct prefer to have sex with a beautiful woman rather than an ugly one. I’m not talking about meeting them, talking with them, etc, simply the act of coitus if one were given the choice between different women.
Correct, it is a vague question. I did not mean to analyze it in length as I don’t suppose that’d be possible and if it were I wouldn’t be able to dedicate the time to it. Simply a thought experiment to see what people think and the reasons for why they may think a certain way. I do however find that a woman is most attractive right before her underwear goes off. Maybe it’s just me. This is generally what I was referring to, I want sex but I enjoy all the foreplay and seduction more than the act itself.
Again the vagueness and vastness of the question, I’ll just stop it here.
A problem with quotes is that one cannot and should not quote an entire discussion for practical reasons, but in doing so omits things that gave the original statement meaning. Magsj said “Those who are always chasing the next conquest don’t have sufficient time to contribute enough to the progresion of the planet: which means that those with a hardier disposition are doing more of the work.”, and I said “I can agree but what/how would they contribute? What is the progression of the planet anyways, simply a scientific/philosophical one or isn’t this part of its progression as well? These people will end up doing plenty of work once they’re past 20-25, not very valuable perhaps but essential nonetheless.” Age was not the issue, the thought hadn’t even occured to me until you spelled it out, simply to say that these people who are generally more occupied with sex rather than knowledge will suffer in their quality of life later on when sex ceases to be the defining factor of their lives but the jobs they will be able to do (till worker, mall employee, cleaning person etc) are still essential, though not valued by, say, an aeronautical engineer.
As for church societies, I lived in an arranged marriage type society for several years. This system is predated and simply does not work for the inviduals involved. Arranged marriages last because of social and family pressure, or simply because they can’t/aren’t going to get anything else. An arranged marriage is oftentimes little other than a financial contract between two families. In these societies, the sexual drive is never absent, that’s impossible, it’s simply channelled. Modern society channels the desire into sex itself, these societies into deviance and secrecy. There are always exceptions, but these are my general observations.
