I have no problem with detention or interrogation when carried out with sufficient intelligence, but torture is a whole nother story.
Imp, it’s not nice to be intentionally disingenuous in thread titles. The article, even the one from the “phony right wing propaganda site,” clearly says that the ACLU is suing on behalf of Al Qaida suspects. That means that they aren’t known Al Qaida members. In the US, we have the standard of 'innocent until proven guilty," so if these people were picked up on US soil they would technically still be innocents.
Also, the ACLU does not speak for left leaning politics. They aren’t affiliated with any political party. They are a non-profit organization, they are legally obligated not to take sides in politics. They can fight for the issues, but they would lose non-profit status if they endorsed any political party.
