I’m trying to come up with several different fun activities for college students on campus and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions. Ideally, the games would attract students from the following three categories: African Americans, evangelical Christians, and supporters of homosexuality. What games would you participate in?
Here are some activities I have so far:
Karaoke with different cultural songs
Bingo diversity games-have a team of different people/flash cards (what is the origin of your name? How do you define respect?)
very specific and interesting demographics your looking for… and i don’t think there is any one type of game that a certain demography likes/dislikes… so anything would work…personally i like dogdeball, with the free for all version.
you get everyone divided up into two teams. one team is the line, the other team is the jumpers. the line stands in a single file line as close together as possible, and everyone has their arms wrapped around the waist of the person in front of them. then they bend forward and brace themselves as best as possible.
the second team, the jumpers, gets in some random order of their choosing, then the first person yells “BUCKBUCK NUMBER 1!” and runs at the line, leap-frogging off the back person and landing as far forward on top of the line as possible. the idea is for the jumpers to pile up on top of the line and make it collapse from the weight. if they can, they win. the line has to hold all the jumpers to win.
if a jumper falls off the line, they’re out. they don’t get to re-jump, or anything like that.
a really really horrific mostly 2-d “Paint” drawing of buckbuck being played by stick figures:
lol actually it’s one of the funnest games i’ve ever played… it sounds really stupid though when you try to explain it.
i accidentally got punched out last year playing it at a church retreat… i was a jumper and the guy after me landed on top of me and inadvertently hit me in the temple and i just passed out and fell off the line.
