The latter is correct.
Human beings are not born evil, they are just born animals, driven by their instincts.
As the saying goes, no child ever needed to be taught how to be selfish. Its the opposite that needs teaching.
A not entirely identical, but in a similar fashion this is the same reason why i think so lowly about people who are incapable of thinking and just justify themselves by feeling a certain way.
Instincts and emotions do not need to be suppressed, but you cant call yourself a functioning human being without having enough control over them to not let them control you.
What is taught as self-less does so because the selfish implodes upon itself…and pure self-lessness does the same when the lessens are embodied to hard.
Many purely selfish people become selfless when they see its futility.
Many purely selfless people become selfish when they see its futility.
I understand what you’re saying and in some ways understand what you’re saying, but surely even you could see some room for improvement in this world of ours.
Improvement is based upon assumed concepts that have no ground. We are the way we are because people seek improvement and this improvement is merely an ungrounded belief pulled from thin air..
Realistically seeking a better world should be done away with, rather people should seek to reduce the conditions for their contentment and find ways to minimize what they deem as necessary.
What I see(n) is people who eat out constantly, need designer clothes, the best phone with the most expensive plan for doomscrolling/hooking up/comparing eachother on social media, overpriced cars, the latest video games, a new sexual partner every few months that needs to be taken care of, multiple subscriptions to random online sites, a large house…
Alot of the luxuries we take for granted people call “needs”.
Yes. But to be fair they are not raised to do so. They, we, are cultivated, since birth, to be consumers and consumers are not consumers when they are content.
I remember, about a year and a half ago, I was deep within meditation and found a geniuine sense of peace. Not the type of warm fuzzy cheap ego oriented peace, that people confuse for peace, but a genuine still, tranquil, clear/lucid, and stable form of peace. I awoke from the meditation and within my mind I realized that world is at war against the peace I found in that moment.
We are raised to be discontent, fragmented, confused and anxious. Why?
Discontentment can be directed towards products to buy out of desire.
Fragmentation can be directed towards products that give an image of wholeness.
Confusion can be directed towards products we do not need as we do not know what we want.
Anxiety can be directed toward buy products for security.
As it is trying to get in a relevant conversation in by a discussion I had with an uber driver taking us to the airport. Talked about the cost of constructing the tunnel de Orient, and what was the necessity of spending many billions , a poor country to build that could otherwise be used for social services. So around the bush he asked me if such expenditure was ok, and told him no, and back thinking now how he may have misinterpret it, and now thinking Authoritiatian may be thinking along the same line, that is the tunneling of many subservient Mexicanos risking their lives to seek a better future for their families.
Sure! But. Down the line into the Vat, it could have been less shortsighted NIT to invent cars. I kind of implied such when the adding of more lanes, designed for more then three people have snowballed short gained gains by cheaters who are no longer monitored by the highway patrol.
I didn’t think he was a classicist, given obviously of more intelligence then a cab driver usually employs in his proper role.
Why would it not be wrong for a set of people taking all your expression, agency, potential and will?
I dont really understand your question.
Fascism is when every layer of your life is manipulated by the government and it’s subsidiaries starting from what information you have access to, down to what culture you can have inside your country.
Under what setting, ethics, logic or understanding would this not be wrong?
I am a foreign mass immigration skeptic and I think foreign immigration needs to be more regulated than it currently is as the current practice is simply unsustainable.
But I also believe there are a lot of foreign immigrants that have been here for decades that should be able to have a path to citizenship especially if they’re hardworking taxpayers.
