i have recently been decreasing a dosage (half of usual) on zoloft and increasing wellbutrinXL (which is meant for OCD and ADD) by half the past dosage. i am a little frightened at what side effects i can come across, and i have had restlessness and couldnt fall asleep for hours for two nights in a row, normally i sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. i am in a great mood…so far…but i am kind of very worried about what physical problems can follow. anything i should watch out for?
has anyone had a similar experience? or does anybody have advice?
Well, your body has been reliant on that medication, and so now you have to find natural ways to do things. I would try to get a good amount of exercise and maybe do something like read before bed.
I sounds like you are going through a little withdrawal, so I’m generally telling you to eat and do relaxing things, until it goes away. That will help you to train yourself for your new drug free mode.
I am on several meds, including zoloft and Amphetamine (another ADD drug).
If I remember correctly, my doctor told me that if you were to quit the zoloft, you need to do it gradually, like over a period of two weeks. Obviously, confirm this with your doctor first before you do anything.
iv never been on any prescription drugs. i have(had) o.c.d. and add as well. the good news is you can get your head back, if you realy try. from my observations tons of people have o.c.d. and add., though they deny it so hard, they end up losing track of their true self. then ther are people that can admit that they are having trouble . then there are people who are in a constant state of meditation. i dare call it enlightenment. personally i smoke pot and listen to headphones., like all the time. it realy helps me focuss, i can walk down the street and just see, without thinking about what im seeing. maybe try to do it without pot, just meditation. though pot can help certain individuals, it can hert aswell. BUT, if it comes down to either pot or zoloft, run for a doobie. because pot is from the leaf family , where as zoloft is from the super glue family. it comes with negatives, and im hoping to get off it, and still stay concentrated . . headphones though, talk over beats, and walk under bridges. good luck.
if you feel like listening to me further i highly recomend that you buy the c.d. “if your feeling sinister”–by—“belle and sebastian”…its been a tremendous help to me.
GalacticHeart- i have had OCD and i have “cure it” without any chemicals/substances- just the power of the mind. I have smoked pot and it really fucked me up. if you are as uninformed about the ‘leaf’ and ‘glue’ families then i suggest you not make any statements based on them. If you still have OCD, then why do you think the pot and music combo is helping?
good luck with finding a way to escape heart disease and lung cancer…
i wasnt tryng to push pot on you, at all…i thought i typed it clear enough. i probobly offended you by calling zoloft superglue, sorry. its no longer the pot music combo, just music. in headphones. because it stops clutter thoughts, its like meditation.
The only thing I noticed during my (thankfully brief) prescription of Zoloft was that I’d get really bad headaches, daily.
All in all, having been there, I can say that you just have to ride it out.
Do not, if you can at all avoid it, use psychoactive drugs while you're tapering off anti-derpessants. They will funk you up, sneriously.
talk about stereotypes! for me its more of organic grass juice/coffee/yoga. im pretty sure thats better than bong/athlete. plus, all of your athleticism will be overpowered by pot- otherwise you must have one great set of lungs!
hmm… where did you have the headaches? temples?right above the nape of the neck? forehead?
Yogo is great for flexibility and mental excersize, but there is no cardiovascular strain at all really, which means your lungs don’t get nearly as good of a workout as you would with going for a run, or playing sports. Coffee is a diuretic(sp?) which means it dehydrades you and continuously flushes out your system, this type of weight control is way more detrimental to smoking pot every once and a while.
I won’t argue that smoke is good for yoru lungs because it’s not, but the common misconception around ILP is that I smoke ALOT of weed, that’s not the case… I simply smoke often, in quite small amounts. Similar to your coffee, but less harsh on my body (coffee really does a number on me for some reason).
Marijuana doesn’t even come close to affecting me on the court. We practice so often and are in such good shape I could likely smoke 3 gram bats daily and not feel much, aside from lethargy.
Gobbo has his habits, as we know. I’ve been known to partake in similar habits, as we know. embracetrees is on a duopoloy of daftly named pills for being a headcase. ben is a drunk, as is Tab. Apart from Thirst, who is addicted only to twinkies and bad jokes, is anyone here not taking some sort of substance to change their mental state(s)?
Sure, yoga does little or nothing (except maybe reduce stress) for the heart and lungs, you need to run around for that, there’s no avoiding it. But I have been told by yoga enthusiasts that it’s very good for your other internal organs. I don’t know, I’ve never read up on the subject because I’ve never really got into yoga, but I think it can do you a lot of good internally, if not as good heart and lung exercise.
