Think of every person you idolize even if it may be yourself.
After everything they or you do, they or you are just ordinary men …
Did you get it?
Nietzsche, Plato, every great personality is simply ordinary! How absurd this is! What makes us different? What is the difference between you and I and the greatest “ordinary men” alive?
The answer is their essence; their soul.
We are all ordinary men. We are absolutely not all ordinary personalities.
We are the same because we are human. We are different because we are not human.
Most people are ordinary, but not all. Maybe all personalities are ordinary - I think that might be true. But not all MINDS are ordinary. Einstein was brilliant - his brain was not ordinary in the least. He was unique in the way that most people are not, and it was a rare and wonderful thing.
“Human–all too human”. The greatest among us shall become the least. Death is the ultimate democracy. So why should we waste any precious time lamenting what we are not? Lamenting our humanity as somehow inferior to any ideas of superior absolutist ideals? Beating ourselves down with stupid notions of a hierarchy of merit? Where is the joy in being who and what we are? What religion or philosophy deprives us of that birthright? If any one human is considered inferior because of his/her reactions to the flyspeck of human existence, the entire cosmology of creation is at fault. Silly–all too silly–that we get out our sackcloth and ashes, flail ourselves with the cat-o-nine-tails of guilt and insecurity, invalidate our being as good, useful, sometimes even joyful. Masochisim, in religion and philosophy, begins with doubt of our individual value, which is a given by virtue of our being born. Hierarchies of merit are generally based on hubris; and is not that the first of the Seven Deadly Sins?
Ask what makes a man the extraordanary animal among the other billion living speciese.
A plant does not see. A lion sees a couple of colours. Man sees a lot. Man is able to cut down the tree without worrying about it landing on him for revenge. Man can wear whatever he wants in the wilderness of South Africa without being criticised for wearing the wrong colour. Thus man reigns the earth, by seeing more things and seeing more in things.
Yet the goal is not about “figuring it all out”, rather it is about “setting it all up”. The end is only justifiable by the means, eventuality is an illusion. To see is not about percieving the colours, but rather it is to develop your eyes until it becomes equipted with the necessary sub organs accompanied by a complete nervous system. This development is initiated by the sheer means of a creative will. The progress of the development determines what colours you can percieve. Therefore, you already will whatever you shall see. And whatever you saw, was created by you under that will.
You know, I am a musician. So, naturally, music icons are the biggest for me; the most inspirational.
I think I saw Elton John on the television in an interview. He was like, “I just don’t get it. Everyone goes crazy for me, absolutely nuts … and I am just an ordinary man, ya know?”
He is so right and so wrong at the same time. Its amazing.
I find your humor enjoyable.
Ah yes, our will. It is our essence. Who we are. Yet seperate.
This will can be excercised. Hence “the greats”.
The burning desire.
