What is the only thing worse than a business that just wants to get your money?

A business that doesn’t just want to get your money.

There are two modes of currency:
1 - people that own a sum of resources, which other guys want to get.
2 - trees, stone, water, etc. Resources that nobody owns but can be gathered.

I think one problem with that distinction is that all [1] resources ultimately come from [2] resources.

There is also that land is basically the oldest form of ownership, and that includes stones, water, etc.

The way Romans got around the problem of land that it is problematic for any one person to own is by assigning ownership of it to the public, which is a specific group of people associated with Rome. Republic, RESPVBLICA, means public goods (RES can mean ground, but it can also mean cattle, for example). Citizenry is not so much a function of republic as defined by it. You cannot say the public is restricted to the citizenry of Rome, because republic already references a group of people. It would be like saying citizenry is restricted to citizenry.

Sounds like the commons. Privatization eats away at that every year.

@Socrates

An aristocracy of land owners?

We already have real estate and landlord billionaire tycoons.

Resources are finite. When that realisation strikes, it is possible that socialism may well grow in popularity. As in, we’re in this together. 😆

Questions will be asked. Questions like: Does he really own that land, those stones, that water, etc? 🤷‍♂️

What do you reckon? Wishful thinking?

I grew up among thugs. So I reckon it’s not as outside the scope as you imagine.

“Does he really own that watch? That television?”

Theft of resources is as old as their gathering.

By the way, if the answer they decide is “no,” they are as ruthless in expropriating them as your heroes Guevara and Djugashvili.

I have friends of the family who were tied up, raped and mowed down as a unit with machetes in the pursuit of that conviction.

True socialists.

I wonder if you’ll have the courage to do the same, or if you will sit there, watching your television and looking at your watch, waiting for others to do it for you.
