As I predicted, the court ruled for Prop 8, but left 18,000 marriages legal.
Now this leaves us the second part of my prediction which is in 2010, the measure will
hit the ballot again and this time will win. How do I know this? Demographics my friends.
The group the voted against Prop 8 most consistently was the older 65 and up group.
Now this group is dying off every single day being replaced by those becoming voters
18 and up, this changing demographic means the old who oppose prop 8 is getting replaced
by the young who favor prop 8 and by every single measure we have, the young favor gay marriage
by huge numbers.
Now this leads us to the second aspect of this tread, notice the lead sentence IMP posted
“ahh poor little socialist tyrants lost again” He is very, very confused as to what has happened and why.
What the battle over gay rights is, is the right for a minority to have the same rights as the majority.
It is a battle for equal justice and the freedom to marry as others in this country have the right to marry.
What this battle is, is for, is the freedom to act. Now how does allowing a minority to freely marry as
the majority become…“socialist tyrants” when in fact it is the left leading the battle for more freedom, not less.
It is the right wing that is trying to reduce freedom in america. The right wing forcing people to act in accordance
to the right wings religious beliefs. The tyranny here is quite clearly coming from the right wing preventing people from
engaging in freedoms allowed to other people strictly because of RELIGIOUS beliefs. The left is fighting to increase freedom
in this country. Now maybe the real facts exist this way. If we, the left, is called socialist for increasing freedoms in this country
perhaps that is the truth. The left is really the Americans who act in accordance to what the founding fathers meant, which is
fighting for freedom for people to act in accordance to their own principles. Is that not the classic definition of America?
The right to act in accordance to your own principles. The right wing by USING GOVERNMENT to advance their own religious
agenda is really the tyrants here. So by IMP’s own idea’s it is the left that is advocating and promoting freedom for Americans to
act as they see fit. Thank you IMP for providing us with a great service and showing us how LIBERALS are really the standard
bearers of freedom in this country. And LIBERALS will continue to show the way for this country by their fight in increase freedom
and opportunity in america. I for one don’t see dead liberals, I see free Americans fighting for more freedom for all Americans which
is the American way.

Yeah, this is no surprise - the judges technically did the right thing - better to let it go back to vote, which will eventually lead to success, and avoid the whole backlash / outcry / childish hysteria over “activist judges” - the most important thing is that they let 18,000 same sex marriages intact - meanwhile we’ve got a handfull of other states under our belt already, which is pretty good in a span of only a few years.
The inevitable is just that - it won’t be too long now in the scheme of things

Recall that within my lifetime (granted I am old) there existed laws preventing
interracial marriage and the reasoning for those laws was exactly the
same reasoning for preventing gay marriage. the last of these laws went away
in 1969. Now can anybody make the argument that interracial marriages have
done any kind of harm to anybody? Nope. Notice from one interracial marriage
we got…Tiger woods. That work out pretty well.
