One of my favorite philosophers, alongside Ken Wilber perhaps. Just wanted to know what everyone thoughts were on this extraordinary man. I think what endears me to him the most is his playful aproach to life. That and the fact that he’s one of the few philosophers I know of that actually has a sense of humor, something I think all philosophers could use a good dose of.

Yes, Watts was extrordinary in his ability to introduce eastern philosophical concepts into western ‘language’ easily understood by almost anyone. His book “The Wisdom of Insecurity”, written in the early 50’s, is one of the best introductions to eastern philosophy I have ever read. No one is ever hurt by reading Alan Watts.
Don’t worry too much about the moderators. They don’t bite as often as the rumors suggest. I know. I are one.
