If we are to treat each other equally, then strict equality should apply. If there are to be women in corporate headquarters then there MUST be women in labour camps. Why do we need women if they are like men? Why is it ok for women to slap men? Why is it ok for a man to bash up a man and not ok for him to bash up a woman? Every human is full of prejudice and is far from the grace of God. If they condemn an action, yet performs it themselves, what excuse do they have if others perform it on them? All’s fair in love and war.
If women can work in offices, so can men. Why do women complain of so many men in the office if they themselves are not sexist and have a problem with men? If feminists see men and women as strictly equal, why do they complain about unequal treatment? How could unequal treatment even arise if indeed men equal women. How could they even see men as different to women. If there are 100 men in office, and 1 women. Since men = women, what difference does more men in the office make?
How is affirmative action any less discriminative? If there is to be more women in office, then there must be less men. But why the change if men and women are really equal? Women especially the wicked feminists are waging a war of hate over the men. They are extremely sexist, and men should respond likewise. For all’s fair in love and war.
As much as it pains me to agree with PoR, he does have a point. If women want equality, put 'em in foxholes with men. If the draft come back, women get their shot, too. If they don’t want to get beaten, they damned sure better not think they can smack a man. If a man is executed for a given crime, a woman committing the same crime should get the same fate.

It’s like I said, I suspect that women are the real aggressive people, generally, amongst humanity. Men are good for short-term bursts, but women are good for daily stuff. They have a natural thing going where they are small enough to evoke sympathy in males and that makes ripe to become unchecked dictators. I see no solution to it unless schools and families start teaching ethics like it is a religion. That will not happen so the cat is out of the bag!
Frankly, I suspect that this is why porn and the increased objectification of women is on the rise. Men want to see women “put in their place†and do so via forcing girls into a bimbo role. This will not work either.
I am not talking about putting women in their place. But for them to get brains!!! Often than not, they have their mouth open and yap nonsense, totally insensitive to the feelings of others. But it’s ok because they are women.
Personally, after accepting Catholicism. I felt an obligation to go to the gym to build more muscles, to be a leader in the church, although I’ve always been a free thinking radical and I absolutely hate exercise. But such is the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ, that I as a Catholic must comply.

I am not religious, but maybe the annoying women were placed here to see how we handle them. Will we be understanding or will we get angry? I’m sure that everything has some aspect of a test about it if indeed there is a god.
Affirmative action strives to make men and women and others equal. To say that men and women are equal is wrong. For people to be equal they must all be treated the same. Two people can never be truely equal ever. Is is just like saying that minorities are equal to majorities so there fore there is no majority or minority.
These are only the way people feel and not law. If some dad wants to teach his son that its ok to beat the crap our of some dude but don’t lay a finger on a girl then he has the right too but under law beating the crap out of the dude is only legal in sports.

I am a firm believer in the rights of women. I just think that the feminists are erroding the rights of women by taking up an extremist stance. A stance without compromise, that women should rule over men, and not proportional responsibility. Men and women are not the same. They are to be treated according to their capacity. If you want men and women to be equal then either turn men into women or women into men.

I thought this arguement died out years ago, i mean its the 21st century. Women have equality, although sexual discrimation does still happen by the small minded its the minorty that are frowned upon by society.

Currently, women are dying in Iraq and in Afghanistan. They are enlisting, but are denied the pay that combat troops receive because they are forced to work in support operations. They are denied military combat duty per. the U.S. military command who is also infringing on women fighting in aircraft. Yes, there are a few, but this was after huge battles with the Pentagon. That is, they are exposed to the same risks, are in fire fights, but still do not have the equal pay as they are relegated to support roles.

this makes sense if you only analyze american culture. However, equality of sexes is different in every culture. I was raised in sweden. In sweden for example women hold 47% of government positions, that is pretty much half. and most sports are co-ed with the sexes. so if you are from sweden and you only analyze sexes from that country, or other nearby scandinavian countries you might conclude a different picture that you did of the “natural” equality of women and men.
so, there are social constructs to consider when analyzing sex equality. and though I have no problem with catholicism, you might want to dig into int history and you might see some of the roots why many post-catholic areas of the world are far from equal in sex.
either way, the sex equality issue is so broad, that you need more than just a philosophy or sociology perspective to understand it fully. you need probably need a lifetime of observation, and who has time for that??? so, all we get on this issue is bits of pieces here and there. and some pieces are dead wrong, or at least need to be badly updated

You are probably one of those feminists who conveniently ignores the millenium of men being enslaved into armies to fight the wars of European monarchies and claims the women at home, safe from the violence and not obliged to do very much at all were the ones who were really being oppressed.
The reason many female firefighters aren’t allowed to occupy anything but support roles is because they’ve proven time and again that they are not physically as capable as men. Women cannot move as easily with, say, 30 kilos of equipment strapped to them. Simple maths. If gender equality means putting women in positions that endanger the lives of others simply so they can wave a flag and have their picture in the local liberal newspaper then count me out.
Actually, you are correct in that many feminist school’s of thought are anti-male, and this is just as stupid as the chauvanist thinking. I totally disagree with both.
