Altering The Psychological Script Of Belief

I know of a story of which a person pretends to be a devout preacher performing exorcisms that they don’t believe in under a religious viewpoint they have no faith in whatsoever. Let’s call them a religious charlatan fraud for money.

They make money by actively participating in the beliefs of others playing along by curing them of supernatural ailments that supposedly afflict them leaving the individuals they exorcised feeling cured despite them having done nothing at all beyond staged acting within a belief script.

Couldn’t the same be applied to psychologists or psychiatrists as well?

The patient believes they are afflicted with something despite the affliction they believe to have being not real at all.

I would say that depends on if they really do have a psychological affliction or not.
