If there is a sport, I pretty much played it. I didn’t play football competitively for the simple reason
I was too small, but did everything else. Baseball, cross-country, track, water polo, swimming, rock climbing, biking,
backpacking, softball, even tried golf once, (hated it). It was only after my spinal surgery that I pretty much stop
playing sports. (and gained 20 pounds).
I was playing football (sokrrrrrrrr) in the dark this evening. No one could see who was on their team, so it got a bit like African football. No passing, just dribbling at the goal and shooting on sight. A more innocent game in many respects.
I was never a jock, but I did play for my school rugby team for years. Rugby is like your American run and carry ball but without the padding, the helmets and the advert breaks.
I was one of the sproty kids at school - I was on the track & field team and netball team, and also dabbled in gymnastics, basketball, hockey, ice-hockey, badminton, and weight-training, which is probably why I still love to work-out and keep fit and healthy otherwise I feel like a real loser if I’m not. I also snowboard… and love it!
I guess I fell into the sporty/brainy group of students, so I was one of the popular kids, but I loved the fact that I could hang-out with any group that I wanted and everybody always knew who I was even if I didn’t know who they were… that freaked me out at first, but I guess I became immune/numb/used to the fact…
I’m thinking of competing in a triathlon in the next few years, as I might as well put my fitness to good use
I can’t take credit for that one, I think it came up here before when I was ranting about why American football is called football. Possibly during the last (sokrrrrr) World Cup.
