But seriously — could you explain why “the land of fools” (i.e., the Russian Federation) is, historically speaking, a land of fools?

I already know the answer. But do you know history?

A _fool_ is someone who is ruled by _foolishness_.  
And _foolishness_ is an idea — or an ideology — that dominates reason.
