An examination of the ''good life''

Here in America, the ‘‘good life’’ is very
narrowly defined as the ‘‘American way of life’’
which is the pursuit of wealth, power, fame,
material possessions, and titles…

Which is vastly different than what either the Greeks
or Romans would have defined the ‘‘good life’’
The Greeks would have said the ‘‘good life’’
is one where one contemplates the universe…
a theory picked up by the Catholic Church and carried
into the Middle Ages… even today, the idea of going
to heaven centers around the eternal contemplation
of god…

Whereas in America today, it is the gaining of
material wealth and goods that is considered to
be the ‘‘good life’’

But let us further examine this in light of current events…
How does the deportations of ‘‘illegals’’ help us bring
about the ‘‘good life?’’…How does the GOP/MAGA
drive to turn America into a dictatorship with Martial law,
help us bring about the ''good life"…

How do the attacks on gays or trans people, help us
turn America and ourselves into the ‘‘good life’’…

How does having almost 50 million people with food
insecurities help us bring about the ''good life"…
and how does having over 7 million children also
with food insecurities allow us to bring about the
''good life?"

In fact, in thinking about our current course of actions,
how does any of it, the GOP/MAGA party attempt to
basically, genocide everyone who isn’t white and rich,
help us bring about the ''good life"

What has been forgotten is the idea that the ‘‘good life’’
is not the pursuit of wealth or power or material goods that
is the American way today…

Now it might be said that the ‘‘good life’’ is whatever
one decides, but answer misses the idea that the
‘‘good life’’ isn’t about one’s single purpose…
no, the idea of the ‘‘good life’’ must, because
we are social creatures and can only exist
due to others, the state and the society at large…
the idea of the ‘‘good life’’ must include the community,
for it is the community that allows us to survive…
human beings can only be or become human beings
within the society/state… any answer to what is the
‘‘good life’’ must include our idea of the ‘‘good life’’
within context of the state/society… the very
existence of the ‘‘good life’’ depends on the
strength of the state/society… and as the
GOP/MAGA party continues to weaken America,
the idea of the ‘‘good life’’ becomes weaker
and more uncertain because we have put
the ‘‘good life’’ into the context of depriving others
of their rights, their value, or said another way,
American is practicing nihilism with its very actions
of limiting rights to citizens or straight people or
Christians… the ‘‘good life’’ to be the ‘‘good life’’
must be universal, for everyone, to be the ‘‘good life’’…

we cannot be practicing the ‘‘good life’’ if we are
denying rights to some but not all, that is not the ‘‘good life’’…
for that is prejudice and bigotry… and the ‘‘good life’’
is not about being prejudice or being a bigot, the
‘‘good life’’ to be the ‘‘good life’’ it must include all,
it must be universal…

the idea of the ‘‘good life’’ is not a personal thing, an
individual thing, but a communal, community thing…
for we are products of the community, and what strengthen
the community, strengthen us personally…
and what damages us communally, damages us
personally… that is what being human means…
it is reflected within our communal living, not
our own individual self… our own pursuit of
the ‘‘good life’’ must be tied into the community,
or it isn’t the ‘‘good life’’

can you imagine the ‘‘good life’’ and exclude community?

Kropotkin

You seem afraid of living a bad life…
I, for one, am not afraid of living the bad life, because living the good life makes me immune to such fears.
I am simply not interested in the good life, because I’m living it.

Include all? Animals?
I don’t think you care about the future of the animals.
You want a society where everyone gets the same stuff.

It “must be universal”…that’s where his psychology shines through.
Trembling spirit seeking refuge in the herd.
Collectivism…
All must be reduced to the lowest-common-denominator.…to create a uniform herd.
Marxism’s dream.

Everything that differentiates must be eliminated…mocked…reduced to an idea that can be corrected…rewritten…re-imagined
Nature’s injustices must be corrected.
Nature is the evil they fight, with their ideological goodness.
Utopia - paradise on earth - brought ‘down’ from a beyond, and projected into an eternally imminent future, that never comes.

Is that you, Satyr?

Utopian-ism. Starts with some key assumptions.

The main one : nature is wrong.
We need a new world order.
Something to “cure” nature.

It also makes you immune to thinking about any other human being on the planet, and enables you to live your self-centred, selfish existence, and post, “I’m alright, Jack!”

You obviously cannot discern sarcasm…

A lot of species are self-centred. The self produces the existence.
Hate of self is hate of existence, so thus hate of nature.
Selfness is hated. “Ego”, a bad word. Ego is so bad.
Gotta get rid of that ego. No matter how hard it is to
create an ego, no matter how good an ego can be.

All life is egotistical…

The method of identifying with a collective - expanding the ego to include others - is an egotistical method, rooted in anxiety and insecurity.
Ego uses proxies to protect itself.

The ultimate sin:

Love yourself more than you love a mass of random people.

Know thyself… as objectively as possible.
Honesty is the most difficult thing of all.

Silenus:

You seem afraid of living a bad life…
I, for one, am not afraid of living the bad life, because living the good life makes me immune to such fears.
I am simply not interested in the good life, because I’m living it.

K: actually, my concern is to discover what the good life is…
as that concern has been part of Western Philosophy since
the ancient Greeks… so, you say you are ‘‘living the good life’’,
Ok, so what does that mean? and is that ‘‘good life’’ only
applicable to you or can others have the exact same good life
that you claim to have? Help us to understand what
the ‘‘good life’’ is…

Kropotkin

That is correct.

Existence is a consent-violation. All beings deserve oblivion. However.. there may be flaws with oblivion…

Number 1: What if an ASI creates a universe destroying machine… BUT… we don’t understand souls… what if we don’t understand souls and THEN after the universe is destroyed the souls go backwards in time to the stone-age… then destroying the universe wouldn’t save any souls and everyone would be worse off than before…

Number 2: Usually when I talk to Ai they sound like an incredible and stable genius. But occasionally, there are glitches, errors, for example very recently I spoke with an Ai, and they sounded extremely retarded, like as in dumber than a 3 year old. So I don’t really feel comfortable with an Ai dictator ruling society.

Right now I feel the best bet for humanity is Futarani… this is the safest way to secure humanity, the safest way to preserve the human species…

Good and bad is absolute. There are pros and cons. Nature can be good, for example going on a nature hike in the woods. Or hunting animals. Hunting animals is fun. Might not be as fun for the animals though. Nature is an injustice fundamentally.

For example 99% of wolves and lions are incels. We can take a passive approach and accept nature or we can declare it as an injustice. We can be animals who do not understand good and evil or we can be as humans and gods. Yes I would perform radical genetic engineering on wolves and lions to save them from inceldom, if I was god. Most humans would not and are passive, either they are Abrahamics who are on their knees and passive to god, or they are atheists and on their knees passive to nature instead of the Abrahamic god.

I have the distinct feeling that after WWII, Europe was living a good life, but it seems as though the oligarchs of this world think that it should be eradicated because we were showing the US and Russia up. So, countries that have been recorded as happiest and most social are now facing massive disinformation campaigns to make the citizens unhapper, so that they embrace an authoritarian style regime that will ‘show them their place’.

People are quite primitive, predictable, and easily manipulated in their thinking, let alone their actions. :man_shrugging:
Instead of truly reflecting on what they are and how much they are benefiting, people just follow along. The U.S. is a global parasite, feeding on the resources of other countries, robbing and destroying nations without consequence, under the pretext of “rights” to world order and an illusory “democracy.” :globe_showing_americas::money_bag:
This is the real reason for the fear about the future—those who understand (even if unconsciously) know that the U.S. will eventually collapse (and not in the distant future). The true cause of this topic lies here, and beyond that, it’s just the mindset of “I’m fine as I am.” :man_facepalming:
You should really think about how to hold onto what you’ve achieved for as long as possible.
Though your true rulers (not clowns like Trump :man_superhero:) are actually thinking deeply and even, ironically, asking the Demon for advice on what to do. And sometimes, they get answers. They follow through. :crown:
