Going 2 Greece in the summer and thought it would be nice to make a visit to a site that has philosophical interest. Athens is an obvious example, any other suggestions?
I realise this sounds a bit geekish so just wanted to point out that this would be an excersion from bars ect.

I’m sure when you are in Athens you will be able to get a guide book with all the neat Ancient Greek stuff in like temple of Zeus, and the Acropolis and the Parthenon etc. But one thing that’s got a quaint colonial story behind it is the Elgin Marbles (aka the Parthenon Marbles). These are statues which were taken from the Parthenon by a Lord Elgin in the earlier 19th century and put in the British Museum. The British Have two thirds of them and Greece have the remaining third. Greece very much want them back and every time a new government in the UK comes to power, Greece asks for the Elgin Marbles back! And thus far, every government has said no!
also i hear there’s going to be some sort of sports tournament in greece soon.
