Anyone from Holyoke, Mass?

Quite a few years ago, I found a link to some beautiful engravings of old paper companies and other manufacturers. There’s a whole list of companies with links to the images of the buildings. I don’t know if there are any members from Massachusetts. Anyway, it’s reminiscent of a time when work wasn’t contracted out to foreign countries.

No, but I spent my grade school days in Hyannis. How far is that from Holyoke?

My mom used to work in a candle factory. And I sat right behind JFK and family in church. The big hit the summer was Gogi Grant’s “restless wind”

Hyannis is 150 miles from Holyoke–a 2 1/2 hour drive. Was the Kennedy family friendly?

 Let me give you a little flashback that will forever haunt me. The name of the church was St.Francis Xavier. A woman during communion or thereafter sprang up and tried to throw her arms around JFK, and kiss him. The church was infiltrated by agents and they sprung up like an angry bunch of serpents and had her handcuffed and dragged from the church to the dismay of a lot of parishioners, who were used to JFK and didn't think much of the family, they appeared as just another pious, religious family.  I looked hard, and saw an element of surprise on Kennedy's face, not fear really, and he really looked like a gentle, kind soul. Another time, and il swear by all that's holy, that the time I sat right behind him, he observed me looking at him, and he cast his eyes on his own son, John-john, as though to convey some meaning in this gesture.  I read it as, "you are as innocent and young as he is, don't try to understand anything". He looked like a kind person, generally.
