I am applying for school next year working on a electrician certification although my ultimate goal would be something like electrical engineering. Still it would be easier to just start as a basic electrician of course.
Anyways today I find out it is virtually impossible to get a student loan with an adverse credit history. I keep on telling myself life can’t get any worse and sure enough it gets worse.
Loans are a bitch. I have one hanging over my head. The IRS. paid it off but,10 yrs later I get notified that I still owed on that student loan, I fought it, thought it was over then 3 years later after I got rid of all my paperwork a new collection agency demands money. I called them and told them to fuck off and so it goes on. Every so often a new threat comes in.
Try for grants or personal loans avoid the frigging govt loan system. Research grants from different sources or scholarships. There is alot out there you just have to find it. Best of luck.
I have no doubt that you will figure it out. Try the .gov sites, just start putting in searches for education, grants and any other key words you can think of. Some institutions list with governments. It will take time and patience but, hey, your family and you have paid in, you should get something positive back. Its a helping hand up, not a begger’s hand out. Use the system, you are intelligent enough. If I knew about all of this and had the access that the internet provides, things would be different for me
. Its a bit late for me but, not you. Do the research at least.
You can’t get private loans without the credit. But if you’re in the right kind of school, or if your school qualifies for federal student aid, then you can get stafford loans regardless of credit background. If you’re poor, they’ll subsidize the interest on half of em. Have you done a fafsa?
Send a validation request to the 3 credit bureaus. Use return receipt. Check back in a month if they haven’t validated it or taken it off, then send a statement charging them with violations of the fcra. If they don’t validate in the right time frame, they can’t continue to report it, even if they validate it later. If the debt has been bought and sold that many times, there’s a chance they wont be able to in the first place, and they’ll just have to take it off. If they know you’re using return receipts, they should suspect that you’re trying to set them up to have to pay you some money in fines because of fcra violations, most of the time the line item will just disappear from the credit report.
Ty, are you sure you wanna take out debts to get a job? I got 68 grand in student loans buddy. I don’t have the demeanor to work for someone no matter what you can teach me. Think about that for a minute.
