I think the conventional shorts and clothing throw off (and is a distraction to) the overall primal feel of the picture.
I would either go all conventional, and put other things in the picture which represents modern life, or go all primal. But as it stands, it seems like it could use some uniformity.

To me the modern dress says, that the essence of life is always and always, and is nothing to do with externals.

uniformity helps to convey one emotion clearly,
to have two different ideas, you want to have something that ties them together somehow,
to have two different contrasting ideas work well on their own is rare.
but at the end, it you like it, and it says something to you, that is waht is important period.
