its almost like we have a dream life thats ours if were 1. ourselves 2. can except it, and want to except it. have you ever felt like fate went out of its way for that girl to make eye contact with you, and to smile, and to then say: is that a swiss army knife around your neck? and for you to say “no” and run off. even though that was infact a swiss army knife around your neck. iv done stuff like that before. its qute horrible. why do we turn down fate, why do we turn done love? is it because true love would dissolve our egos, and were to scared to die?..is it because were to scared? to quote belle and sebastian. “im going to wate for fate to show its hand, in the longest most boring game of love poker ever”. not many people care about this. if any one is resading thjis and kind of knowing what im getting at…then i highly recomend the newly released (dvd) movie staring bill murry “Broken Flowers” peace.
Very interesting…
I wouldn’t say you were actually running away from love… because how would you know that it was love if “anything” at all? =)
Fate is funny sometimes and at times, it’s down right horrible… No in-betweens if you think about. It’s like the thought of whether there really is a “middle class” whilst others think that you can be either rich or poor.
Dont think about fate- it will eventually come and you’ll meet “it” if left to your own devices. Dont anticipate fate either b/c it’s useless to when you know it’s not in your control.
if i believe in fate, and to be honest im not sure i do, but if i do i believe in it sincerely and wholly. if i do then everything is to do with fatein which case you asking the very question is down to fate aswell, much is my response and all other responses.
This is what i cant figure about fate, or moreso whether i believe it, for i sould say that i do not, and even though my saying so doesnt determine whether it is true or false, if i am wrong then fate is telling me not to believe which seems some what absurd…there is a thing which is making me not believe in its existence but yet i am bound to it?
now ive hurt my head
Firstly, what happened to basic punctuation?
I’m sure this has been a topic of discussion here before, but for aguments sake consider all the possibilities and repercussions involved. If we were to live in a completely deterministic universe, no actions are voluntary and thus we cannot be directly held responsible for our actions. I tend to find myself on the fence on this topic.
I come back to David Hume as he argued that that while it may be possible that one does not freely arrive at one’s set of desires and beliefs, the only meaningful interpretation of freedom relates to one’s ability to translate those desires and beliefs into voluntary action.
I like that girl, not by any act of volition, but I choose to either talk to her or not.
stars, no stars.
Well, to be honest with you, I believe in destiny, not fate. This is because Destiny makes more sense, in the sense that it is fate that is pre-determined by someone (i.e. God). This is my personal religious convictions.
At anyrate, I think fate is something that man has come up with to help explain some of life’s “anomalies”. Perhaps long ago, the ancient peoples used to explain the earth’s “components” (i.e. natural-disasters, changing climates, the celestial bodies, etc.) with a mixture of mystical/spiritual elements combined with just plain common sense. The result was what we call today, “fate”.
I a lot of people believe in “fate” out of intellectual laziness. By this I mean that some people do not take any time to figure out what they really believe. Instead of going through all the “hassel” that religion would require, they take the easy way out and simply explain the Extraordinary as “fate”.
Likewise, I think there are some people out who use fate to explain certain things or events that may actually have a scientific reason for their occurance. But, if these people don’t bother to spend any time reading good books or learning new things, they will never know any of this.
Just my humble opinions, anyways…
" these people dont spend any time reading good books"…im reading james and the giant peach, what are you reading?
