@futureone In the context of special relativity, you are correct that the value of the kinetic energy of an object depends on the reference frame in which it is measured. However, kinetic energy, in modern physics, does not depend on an object moving towards (or away from) the observing reference frame. It is defined no matter in what direction it is moving. So, in a setting in which special relativity applies (with velocities approaching the speed of light), you are correct that the value associated with kinetic energy is subjective.
I don’t understand how energy would be defined “if there was no universe.” Modern physics requires a material universe in which the properties of objects or collections of objects (mass, velocity, energy) are defined.
it is only “moving” according to someone’s reference frame. If the reference frame is the same velocity as it, then the person in that reference frame would say its not moving.
Yes, but if it is moving with respect to “someone’s reference frame” it has energy with respect to that reference frame no matter in which direction it is moving. Your statement, “It has energy because it is moving towards something.” is incorrect. It doesn’t need to be moving “toward” the reference frame.
The reference point is the observer, relative to his objective.
All value judgments, including the measure of energy, is in reference to the observer’s objectives, relative to his perceptual speeds - his brain’s processing speeds.
The organism’s metabolism is the primary, but man uses external, objective, standards, such as pendulums in gravity, or solar cycles, or seasons, or lunar cycles,or vibrating crystals, or computer energy codes…anything that is relatively consistent.
The primary reference is the organisms own metabolism, determining its perceptual speeds.
These are inherited and are based on cellular systolic/diastolic rhythms.
All evaluations (measurement, judgments) are triangulation.
Either first- second- or third-person.
Advancing from simple to complex species - or from subjectivity towards increasing objectivity.
Triangulation of a conscious subject, its objective, and what separates them.
This separation can me measured in distance, effort, power, time, space etc.
The subject uses itself as the measure, and its objective as its reference point.
As we advance from subjective to objective, we place the standard outside the subject…..acquiring a third-person perspective, which is objectivity. Divine perspective.
The quality of the individual’s assessment of himself, his objective and what separates the two, determines success, outside unforeseeable factors, such as chaotic energies.
All sense organs interact with the external world via these mediating energies, which are then transformed into bio-energies they’ve evolved to process and transmit via nervous systems to the brain, a processing hub, where they are converted, once more, into the experience.
Man can use different medium to subsequently project externalize - his brain’s experiences - via rt, technologies etc.
Lower animals can only convert their experiences into informed actions - ego life can learn…adapt…choose, will, in accordance with fluctuating circumstances.
if you are holding a ball in your hand it doesnt have kinetic energy because it is stationary in your reference frame. It only has energy after you throw it because the energy is the motion of it compared to the world.
however, a stationary ball contains a different type of energy, fuel energy and atomic energy, but i was talking about kinetic energy.
