Is drama intelligence the same as real intelligence?
Yes, it is identical and in all forms the same thing.
No, there is a difference (please post what difference you see.)

Is the intelligence of one who watches drama shows the same thing? I mean, one can understand the concepts being thrown about from being an avid drama TV viewer, and they are the same as those in say a good and intuitive fantasy novel, but is it the same? Or are the shows and the book the same even? Where is the line drawn? Just something I thought should be brought up.
In another post I brought up that this world was made for the intelligent, and so it is not perfect to our ideal but instead to what works. It takes intelligence to draw up (both the TV drama’s and the fantasy novels) and to interpret and understand each, and so both are part of our arts. It is the intelligence here I want to focus on, as that’s what is needed for both the drawing and interpreting, not which is right or wrong. So, I am putting up a poll and asking readers to give me some insight, because this is something I am most curious about! (Sorry if this should be in psychology, but it is the philosophy of the arts, and I see a fine line between that and true psychology in this regard.)
Here’s my answer to the poll, and if you have any questions I hope this answers it:
I think the difference lies in how the intelligence is used. One is based upon emotions, and output is done through them (the drama TV shows) and the intuitive intelligence is based upon intelligence itself, using reasoning to form conclusions and then acting from those conclusions.
Not saying it’s higher or lesser, but it is my own way of thinking, the way I was raised with. It makes perfect sense to me, and I’ve been trying to make it make sense here. It’s just how one interprets things.
If the purpose of posting in the first place is to have people give you feedback, which requires them understanding your theory, or to spread your theory, which also requires them understanding your theory, then it makes sense to communicate your theory as clearly to the people receiving as possible. You wouldn’t go to a Chinese philosophy site and start talking in English, would you? Or at least, you wouldn’t if your purpose involved anything more than annoying the Chinese philosophers.
Even if I had the ability to interpret anyone correctly (which I don’t), Jauntis, I have a sneaky suspicion there are quite a few people out there that I would continue to find nonsensical.
That wasn’t my point in that quote. I was just pointing out a truth that could help one interpret. Even in person it is difficult to explain philosophical ideas and theories, and even harder to strangers with internet ambiguity. I’m just trying to alleviate the difficulty of the problem.
Reason and emotion are not in opposition. They are placed into opposition by wannabe philosophers looking for an edge. The truth is that emotion without reasons is madness and reason without emotion is sterile.
Cannot vote, seeing no clear alternatives. Geeze, I hoped this would be a thread about A-I. Not to downplay it as it is, I just don’t understand what it’s about. Is it comparing intelligence of one involved in playful illusion (drama) with that of one in states considered more down to earth, such as 9 to 5 working?
I couldn’t understand your original post. I was hoping this would be about AI.
It sounds a bit like you’re really clumsily asking about the problem of other minds but in terms of real people vs fictional characters. Anyway, why put it to a vote? Since when is philosophy supposed to be democratic?
If you look at my post(s) in the correct light they can make perfect sense, but if you are getting frustrated or don’t care then you are not looking at it correctly. If it wasn’t intelligible to me I would not have posted it. Next poll: Is post number size a compensation for other areas? =D>
I think I’ve understood the question, but please correct me if I’ve missed the point.
I believe there are advantages to indulging in the occaisional drama show, but that they are only complementary to learning from real life experience. I doubt whether one can grasp any new concepts from them though, especially because real interactions and emotions arn’t seen in their true form.
