My ex-girlfriend believed in astrology, so at the time, I delved into the discipline. After that ended, I started thinking with the whole myspace craze and all, and how they promoted astrology, is this not just another conspiracy to control fear, to make relationships even less authentic? With the onslought of postmodern society, it just seems like a cover up to get people together who are now almost hopeless in a civilized state of devolution, of mass media, control of power in the hands of corrupted authorities. After reflecting upon the relationship, I found some of what the astrology reports to ring true, but is this just a matter of perspective? When I researced it on the net, I found many of the reports to hold contradictory information. Is it therefore just an illusion of which some rings true, just to channel my mind into one train of reflective thought, rather than my own authentic thought processes? With all this talk of business relationships, of money and intelligence, it just seemed absurd in the sense that I thought it had been corrupted. It would be interesting if there were empirical evidence to all this, if science experiments were conducted to test compatibility. But who has the authority in these matters? Psychics? Palease. Does anyone know when and how astrology began? It ocurred to me to revert back to the ancient Greeks - to see Parmenides as the water sign (in reference to immutable being), Heraclitus as the fire sign (this should be obvious), Plato as the air sign (as in the Raphael painting when he is pointing to the heavens), and obviously, Aristotle as the earth sign. According to my reason, fire would be compatible with water (as I am a Pisces), but yet, the astrology readings say I am most compatible with water (as my girlfriend was a Cancer). This seems to contradict the fundamental laws of chemistry? It seems like I would have all the power over fire in that relationship, to satiate with water. Hehe. Any thoughts on this? Can anyone answer my question about its origins?
At first I thought this thread was going to be about astronomy.
Astrology is based on the ancient theory that the stars and planets around us have a big influence over our lives, and control/determine the future of natural events. When Nikola Tesla recieved/picked up on certain radio frequencies incoming from Mars, I believe this was an example of someone first finding out that the frequencies from one planet travel through space and then effect or flow through another planet also. The moon has its influence over the tides and the fertility cycles of micro-organisms. One big factor which influences life on earth are the ELF frequencies which travel through everyone and many life cycles/processes are timed or syncronized to that earth frequency cycle. The frequencies of the Sun play a big part in earth life too. Later on I believe it could also be discovered that the other planets and the stars closer to our planet all have an influence over the whole system of the earth, too.
The common astrology readings you may see in the newspapers and similar, are a scam. Some skeptics have tested these readings and future tellings, and as far as they have found, it’s all a blatant generalization, and essentially a myth.
Astronomy IS a conspiracy, however, by definition of the word, as NASA and space-travel are very militaristic, strategic things, and most all of NASA’s information is confidential/top-secret information. Spy satlites, strategic missile defense, space bases, particle cannons, these are very militaristic things. Very strategical.
Thank you. Please know that I was half joking when I wrote this. An undercover stab to my ex. But thank you, that was enlightening. I will look into it more. Next time, I will try not to disappoint and post an astronomy message just as you hoped for.
Astrology can be useful…If it makes people think about whether they ‘fit’ certain profiles, engage in self analysis about their behaviours, and evaluate why they would believe any particular ‘sterotyping’ about any particular group of people.
Also…
I’ve used aspects of astrology as reference points when giving character descriptions of different personality traits to actors. I could use other personality type theories but this has so far proved very accessible.
(I DO say that I am not endorsing astrology per sa but using the descriptions of multiple aspects of personality - not just the “Sun sign”)
LOL! It sounds like you have found a healthy way of expressing frustration with your ex g/fr by posting… =D>
Everybody wants to know the future. The stockbrokers, the politicians down to the 15 yr old working at McDonalds. Astrology, Tarrot cards satisfy people’s want to know. More than that, I think astrology offers the mystic aspect. You notice the cards they use all look very elaborate and ancient as though they offer a living connection to our mystical past. The words of the astrologer is usually convoluted and in very vague terms so they appear right in hindsight.
It’s not correct to devolve into the intellectual aspect of astrology for which there is none. Rather, look at the mystical, emotional aspect astrology offers. Astrology is about satisfying people’s emotional needs.
The definition of the word “conspiracy” has absolutely nothing to do with the scientific study of celestial bodies. (Unless, of course, you are one of those people who believe that everything astronomers are telling us about the universe is a bold-faced lie and that we live in a giant terrarium.)
What is it that NASA is keeping secret? Have you tried to use the FOIA? If you wanted, you can get the blueprints to the space shuttle.
Particle cannons? They don’t exist. Yes, there are particle beams, but they are far too weak to be used in military combat.
I might be convinced otherwise with a good lot of detailed conclusive contrary findings, but-
Astrology is bunk that people make money off of, and doesn’t really hold any other power. I could probably capitalize on it myself with enough determination, but it is neither a fantastical truth nor a lie for fantastical ends. It is a fantastical lie. Period.
On second thought . . . I believe I’ve been recently gifted with psychic powers which I am able to disclose provided the right amount of funding toward my religion based on my revelation.
Well I was moreso talking about space travel and whole cosmic work/technology than the specific or isolated part of all of it. But really, NASA is like the second CIA; the kind of spy satlites that they have, the interplanetary information that they have access to, it’s going the same way that the CIA went. There’s allot there other than the overt & the publicized.
If you were talking about space travel and technology you should have been more specific. Sure, the aerospace industry has tremendous military ties, and some of its technology contributes to discoveries made in astronomy, but mathematics contributes to astronomy as well - does that make math a conspiracy too?
Also, what type of information is being withheld? What is not publicized that you have evidence of? How can you have that evidence if it is not publicized? Do you work in the aerospace industry and have a top-secret clearance that you are currently abusing by talking about this information on a public forum? Or is this about UFO’s?
I once read a book by an ex-CIA official and he spoke candidly about how he had always wanted to be a part of that organization in order to know all of the secrets that no on else is privy to. What surprised him the most is that the secrets themselves are often not that interesting or important - however, the fact that you have any information that cannot be publicized creates a sort of superiority complex among the individuals that have access to the information.
People love secrets. They love to feel privileged to knowledge that no one else can have. This can be seen in any social group from the Freemasons to fraternities. Secret knowledge forms social bonds, and in turn, provides a feeling of power (even though it may be a false feeling). Looks like it all comes back around to Nietzsche again doesn’t it?
Knowledge is power and people want to be powerful. A conspiracy theorist is really someone who is desperately trying to latch onto knowledge/power that they do not really have. They aren’t thinking straight. It’s almost like an addiction. They are drunk with the feelings and desires of secret knowledge that usually ends up becoming public bunk.
