Atheism as much a notion of fear as Christianity.

Atheists do not disbelieve in God because it is irrational; they disbelieve because they do not want to reconcile this world with God or any sort of force.

Why do loads of atheists (RD and the people from his forum) still believe in happiness, free-will and love? Are you any better than a Christian with those falsehoods?

Why do I get told such nonsense such as “It is arrogant to denote that free-will does or does not exist”.

What hypocritical weaklings you are! You either go all the way or don’t bother with being an atheist.[/list]

You know, I will tell you one thing that is more frightens me more than both atheism and Christianity combined: blind patriotism.

Don’t you think Aidan_Mclaren’s statement that, and I quote…

…needs substantiating?

I mean are there any studies proving that Atheists do such a thing?

Maybe you should tech our resident miserable nihilist, who hates life but cannot give it up, how to be a rational free-thinker, like you are.

I’ll leave free-will alone, but happiness and love?

Metaphysical certitude.

Thanks, Faust. Always helpful.

Aiden - are you drunk?

I was just wondering.

I’m with Satyr on this.

I want some stats. Data. Info-mation.

atheism is not a cop out for not wanting to reconcile the worlds nuonces to some imaginary friend.

your force or deity might have presented itself to you in your head… however no such thing has presented itself to me, nor any other person who accepts the lable of ‘atheist’.

Being atheist is different than being ahappiness or afree, or whatever… man, is this really… jjeriowerqer

Faust, that’s the right question.
Allot of times people at ILP forget to ask this sort of thing about the OPer.
“Are you high, sleep-deprived, drunk, or perhaps both drunk and on drugs at the same time?”

These kinds of preceeding questions help clarify the true source of the information.

I’m sure some of them do, but I’m just as sure some of them don’t. You can’t just clump them all into one pigeonhole.

To me, belief in god is irrational. Because of this, I find it unnecessary to reconcile this world with god. What I want has nothing to do with it.

Satyr…could you like…go away. You’re prejudice gives away you don’t have any good comeback to anything I say.

You too mate. Can I have some real replies?

What I’m saying is, most atheists still cop-out on truth, and yet they preach about it so highly.

Because there is God! And he is the great sadist! Everything points in the direction of pain in this world. How can you deny such blatant things? Every road, every path, every sign, every piece of art, is not only unreal but also evil.

Unreal and evil at the same time? Heavy.

There is a meaning behind the unrealness, evil is the meaning. And of course you would say it is irrational; only because you don’t want to invite that thought into your mind.

There is nothing irrational about this, it makes perfect sense. We’re here to suffer for someone.

He who speaks truth with a conviction is an imposter.

Sure. Many people, atheists included, will compartmentalize things like a (non-)belief in God with other areas of thinking, like free will, love, etc. Most people simply do not have the awareness and critical thinking skills necessary to recognize their inconsistencies.

And, so what? What’s your point?

I think Satyr was just using a sarcastic tone to drive a point home with 1Samuel8. See the latest in Satyr’s Feminization of Man essay thread.

That atheists are in no way any different from Christians.
