Atheism Is Not...

Atheism is not…

…fatalism…

…amoralism…

…evidentalism…

…anarchism…

…pluralism…

…egalitarianism…

…or what else?

I’m just asking this because a lot of people confuse what atheism is versus what it’s not. There might be practical reasons to correlate beliefs with each other, but we should remember that what’s practical is subjective. How you get things done depends on what you’re trying to do, and just because you’re trying to do something doesn’t mean something is everything.

The core concept of atheism is -theism. Without the ‘theism’, the term “atheism” is senseless.

Atheism is a reaction to theism. It is a reaction to a precursory event. And that event is divinity. Atheism rejects the idea of divinity and spirituality. Atheism is an ideology opposed to faith, except having faith in “science” and “fact”.

Atheism promptly replace religion with “science”, and god with “fact”.

Atheism is not arrogant.
Atheism is not self righteous.
Atheism is not condescending.
Atheism is not aggressive.

The -ism is the minimal description of the idea and it’s very limited. However, it manifests itself in atheists and they are a blend of ideas and behaviors. Some ideas are highly compatible with atheism. Atheism typically comes with sciencism.
