If you could call back a famous philosopher or any other back from the dead that you think we could/need today, who would it be and why?

Theyare not dead, they are alive: in the written word, they are, well any way most of them, immortal. But honestly, that is a very tough question. I could not choose just one, at least three. Platon/Socrates, Leibnitz/Goethe, Neitzche/Wittgenstein. Out of those,
(if i had to) I would finally choose Leibnitz/Goethe, and out of that Goethe.
Socrates or Plato.
Artimas, could we draw a straight line from Socrates/Plato to Goethe? May Faust be a derivitive of the beginning of confusion? (from some sort of redemtion is prayed for?)

Leibniz is one of the few philosophers for whom I can without remorse say that I’m glad he’s dead and I’d rather he stays dead too.
I’d say Plato just because I think he himself would abandon Platonism and extreme rationalism, which would be interesting to observe happen 
After him I’d revive Hume just to congratulate him, the man was way ahead of his time.
If Jesus came back, then he could clean up more problems than all the philosophers who ever lived.

Well, in a hundred years it will probably be me. 
It seems to me that wanting someone to come back from the dead is like wanting to repeat a grade in school… Why would you want that?
Don’t you think it would be interesting observing how ancient philosophers understand and adapt to the modern times and ideas?
It could be but, it would most likely drive them insane. Any new, would be skewed and not fit.
Or they spewed out all that was in before they died.
It just makes zero sense to want to bring anyone back.
It makes more sense to look at the present for a clearer future.

" thing, because she has been gone for awhile and " came back from the dead", so to speak .
