I love the outdoor art.

Thanks LA. I’m pretty keen on outdoor art too. Some good stencil / graffiti stuff there.

Melbourne is said to be the stencil (graffiti) capital of the world. Each year there’s a meeting of the worlds best outdoor stencil artists. This is their main web – where they pass on ideas, techniques and photos.

This site is another favourite outdoor art site. This dude’s art takes on the format of billboard advertising and is pretty witty. He became pretty famous with his anti smoking Joe the Camel campaign.

I love it. Thanks.

I’m trying to get to Berlin sometime this summer. Will take pictures.

qwned.

What does this mean Dan~?

It’s a variation on ‘owned’, which is covered somewhat in this wiki article

that guy… (banksy) …makes me very happy indeed.

honestly, an art terrorist? who comes up with the name “art terrorist”?

Yes, raising consciousness sometimes takes drastic measures. Nice.

I sense a protest against capitalism, in some of these works…
Or, a protest against greed & exploitation, I should say.

This is a stencil (T-Shirt?) design I did a while back. I envisioned it out the front of a church. :imp:

I saw a documentary about stencil artists where they were asked about the ‘illegal/immoral’ aspect graffiti/public art.

One chap brought up the question of why commercial billboards advertising is allowed to enter public and private space. He questioned that if we were talking about sound, it would be illegal to pollute the environment but, because it is visual, businesses get the green light to invade any space at whim.

He has a (technical) point because the light that bounces off a billboards actually enters public space or private property. The polluters don’t ask for permission and don’t pay any fees, so are they illegal/immoral?

That ‘God is dead’ theme of yours would work very well in front of a church but it would be misunderstood and you would be arrested - if you were caught that is - but that would be the whole point. Um, not to get arrested, but to say something meaningful, controversial even. There is a massive (legal) billboard in Seven Sisters Road advertising some sort of church or other that says something to the extent of “Signs - Believe what you see”. Argh I could scream…drives me mad when I see shit like that [cloaked in new-age (sewage) language] drummed into the mass consciousness. People will believe what they see…The thing with outdoor art is that its message is layered, as are people.

LA, stencilling a faux chalk outline of gods body outside a church (mosque or synagogue) is a slightly more creative way of saying “Bullshit”

If I say anymore, I’ll end up in an anti religion diatribe. To put it simply, I’m over tolerating the intolerant.

No need to say any more km. Your message is loud and clear. I got it with the image.
