Bassackward: Chorus of a song in progress

Bassackward

Now I know how my song must be sung.
I was always too old to be young.
Now I know how my life must be told.
I grew up too young to be old.

I like the paradoxical associations employed in this concept – keep going with it and post the final product if you get there with it.

lwh,
Thanks.
Those four lines surfaced in my consciouness when I was attempting to do something else. Next morning, I tried to write a song around them.
That was the problem. I should have known better. I was working on a work, a labor that, for me at least, should be saved for revisions, not used for creativity. This is not to say that editing can’t be creative. Its to say that inspiration comes out in songs and poems like a newborn baby. It’s right as it arrives. I just have to clean up the birthing fluid and cut the umbillical cord. I know some may look at it and think, “Gawd, that’s an ugly baby”. But I can’t let that insult such gifts. Maybe one day a song that’s kin to the chorus may be born.

Ierrellus, now that you have an excellent start I will be looking for verses with the theme: if I knew then what I know now; if only they would listen.
