Bed is always right.

What made earth wake at all?
Bed is a pleasant Century or Ten…
don’t you agree?

Bed is the Century for me.
It slips by without notice.
It is not in-your-face
or balshy brazen or bold

It has the calmness of wisdom.
A wisdom that need not speak at all.
A wisdom that closes its eyes
and drifts in its mind dozes
snoozes a fox a snooze bear
a cushion of mind

kettle warm
cookie warm
bread warm
morning sock warm
fire warm
central heating warm
coffee warm
-this is the season of bed
its temprament

it is great idle hands
it is great tossing and turning
upon the great ease of
duvet love and pillow love (no, not homosexuality)
cosy foxes dove dose love

the love that does not ask too much.
the love that settles down.
the love that is in know way reactionary
but is as peaceful as hand upon hand

Bed is the century worth sleeping for!
Life is the great war of the tired!
Bed is the great peace of the content!

Bed is the President of the United States of Zzzzzz…
Bed is the only literal arena where Equality lies…

(Bed prolaims, hating bad poetry and good poetry.
shut up and come to me…)

Bed is always right.

Good, good.

[golf clap]

I would change the meter and add to this:

“It has the calmness of wisdom.
A wisdom that need not speak at all”

Maybe:

“It has the calmness of wisdom.
A wisdom that need not speak
If the bed don’t squeek
at all.”

Its quarky and not in the tone of the poem but it adds something pleasantly silly, I think, that can be tolerated because it is brief.

This poem, Colinsign, got better and better the further thru it I got thru my 1st reading of it - your best yet that I’ve read by far. Below is my favorite stanza

but not necessarily to be interpretted as the best or only good stanza. Keep up the good work and keep 'em comin. Right now, I think I’m gonna catch up on that catnap I missed earlier today - yawwwn

lhw - AKA: The Straight-faced Clown AKA: M.C. Tape-Hiss

It has the calmness of wisdom.
A wisdom that need not speak
If the bed don’t squeek
at all

That made me laugh detrop!
I think I’ll add it.

lengthheightwidth, thank you for your comments, glad you enjoyed!
I have quite a lot of poem on sleep - it must be a symptom of my depressive edge - I should gather them into a book of sleep.

Speak soon.
