I Just watched it, and I felt sick to my stomach through almost the whole thing, and by the end I was all depressed and ill, like…you might feel if you just found out a good friend of yours killed somebody, years and years ago. I have no idea why.
What? I don’t know what you mean but I really liked that movie. I like any movie where you come out thinking “Woah…what just happened”.
It might be the image of Malkovich in general. His history in movies is limited to playing a bad guy, or a sinister guy, or a strange guy. The persona’s of the popular actors and actresses carry over into the next movie(s). For instance, I just saw The Number 23, and it didn’t work with me at all. Carrey is not a serious dramatic character. Too much comedy in his history. Maybe Malkovich’s persona has affected your perspective on the movie.
I liked it. It was a bit odd, though.
Perhaps the shock of seeing Cameron Diaz as an ugly frilly haired freak is what has left you disheveled.
Despite the top notch cast I found the movie very disappointing.
I really liked the movie, it’s not that. I think part of it is that other than Malkovich, every single character was completely unlikable to me. Some of them were curious, or interesting to watch in their own way, but were dispicable for one reason or another, so it really dragged on me, every little thing they did.
I didn’t like it that much, but it didn’t help to see it during the day on TV with commercials and whatnot.
I really liked the movie, but I’m used to depressing European movies with a cynical view of human beings. I can understand that the lack of resolution and the sheer absence of charm in any of the characters would render certain people rather down after watching it, but that’s one of the things I liked about it, an American satire that doesn’t have a romantic-comedy happy ending.
