Benefits of a technocracy?

What are the benefits of a technocracy?

Does it come after we put lithium in all of the water supplies along with implanting everybody with biological chips?

Does it come after the rise of artificial intelligence when humanity becomes enslaved by terminator robots?

Does it come after we disperse the populance with electric shocks collars where if people really get out of line detonates in built explosives inside?

Curious people want to know.

Two words;

To
Whom?

Who be that “we” of whom you speak?

What are you talking about citizen? We’re all inheritors of a brave new world.

A new world order.

I think if a kind of technocratic system was put in place without meddling politicians and businessmen, then none of your suggestions need come about. Pollution is already rife, and killer robots and explosive collars would only be the result of some sort of authoritarian political system moreso than a technocratic one. Suppose you had a liberal, green technocratic party that was solely focused on renewable energy and a self-sustainable way-of-life, no need for lithium-rivers or Terminators then…

Liberals are somehow less authoritarian?

Less authoritarian than say…a fascist? Then yes.

Liberals, conservatives, communists, or capitalists, it all leads to a type of fascism in the end.

It all comes down to human beings inflicting their will upon others.

Not all wills are equal though.

I don’t mean that in terms of strength, but in terms of values - politically speaking.

All politics are a sham. Your statement being one of many endless testaments to that.

Technocracy will benefit whoever is atop the ladder of social-technological power.

As for everyone else, there may be benefits for them, too.

Humans are almost infinitely adaptive, and will find happiness and meaning in almost any environment if able to accommodate to it over a long enough time.

Expand on that. Tell me why my statement is a “sham”.

As MM says, “Technocracy will benefit whoever is atop the ladder of social-technological power.” There’s no reason why this “whoever” can’t be someone/something good. However, it would have to be much different to current systems and personnel though.

The best benefit of a technocracy is that everyone gets a smart phone.

La-di-da for a world of fucking smart phones.

Technology always benefits people in position of power whereas everybody else becomes fucked or enslaved through it. Thankfully technology will eventually become humanity’s undoing.

An abundance of good people in government? You’re kidding, right?

The singularity event horizon of technology will eventually destroy modern industrial civilization. It will be the most liberating moment in human history as it will be the end of history itself.

That’s a bunch of words which don’t mean anything when put together. :open_mouth:

Technology advancing as a singularity to take over human existence.

I don’t need a written language critic. Go away.

Actually there is a pretty solid reason why that someone can’t be “good”.
The first issue is that it doesn’t stay the same someone, so even if a good person gets there, all it takes is time before it becomes a bad person and a bad person inherently ensures that only bad people get to replace him. That is a much easier task than the good person trying to make sure that only a good person replaces him. Bad is much easier to find and requires very little testing. And converting the good into the bad is much easier as well.

But the most significant reason is simply that homosapian has little to naught idea of what good vs bad actually is. So even if a good person were to be magically found, no one would know it so who promotes him into authority over everyone else?

The only way for a “good person” to ever get into an authority position to begin with is to be so seriously kickass, vastly superior, and unstoppable that he overcomes the extreme odds against him at the cost of such battles. But then what do you really have? A warrior king. Exactly where does the “good person” bit come in?

The good person that actually manages to get to the top has to be not merely an extremely expert warrior, but also have a relatively hidden side that is pure saint and far more wise than the norm will ever be. And then he also has to know how to ensure that only good will ever replace him.

…what are the odds.

Technology merely assists the insane to accomplish their insanity more confidently (in general).

That doesn’t mean anything either.
