The weirdest part is the passage “24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.”
So God, all of a sudden, right after sending Moses on a mission to free the Isrealites, has a change of heart and decides to kill him, but then returns to his original position because Zipporah (Moses’s wife) circumcises their son.
Does this make any sense to anyone?
Anyway, I’m going to start this thread for anyone who has other examples or comments about passages in the Bible that make absolutely no bloody sense at all. Might be funny.
Oh, and I guess I could have put this in philosophy of religion, but it’s not really philosophy - just commentary.
Welll, what really does not makes sense is a boy letting anyone come near his penis with a sharpened stone. That whole thing there makes no sense unless it was a baby to a very young toddler. After 3 a boy would get the idea before she cut him and he would run screaming or start slugging his mother.
What you must realize about the bible (the old testement in particular) is that it was written over 2000 years ago as a summary of stories of key jewish heroes. Many lines such as this one were supposed to remind the reader of specific tales that have long been lost to time so that nowadays it makes little sense.
