Billion + believe in Satan. Should all schools be mandated to teach Creationism?
We must save our children from foolish belief in the supernatural.
Education is the only tool that we have to drag ourselves and our children out of ignorance and superstition and that education should include that it is foolish to read myth literally. No more Dark Ages should be allowed.
Comparative Religion should be taught to insure that no child is lost to creationist intellectual dissonance. We must expose our children to Comparative Religion as soon as they can understand Evolution which would be taught alongside of it.
To do less would be shirking our duty to our children and their young minds. If you do not supports this type of all-inclusive education, please show why you oppose it?
Remember that when President Bush backed up stem cell research, it gave other countries a chance to advance away from the U.S. and hurt the U.S economy.
If the U.S. fails to educate it’s children properly in Comparative Religion and Evolution — and the various sciences that stem from it, — the U.S. will shrink it’s economy and power as compared to those countries who have a fuller and more intelligent education program.
Do you agree that it is the duty of the U.S. education system to maintain a first world standard of education in the teaching of Creationism, Comparative Religion and Evolution, — and catch up to more intelligent countries?
The question, or perhaps a statement, since one of the possible responses is “true” and not “yes” is probably something along the lines of “Do you believe in evolution?”
GIA I agree with everything you said. Children should be taught all of the mainstream religious from an objective viewpoint (or at least as objective as possible) instead of obvious brainwashing.
Indoctrinating children with religion (or any other unsupported ideas) early on in their lives should be considered child abuse.
The trouble is that the people who preach religion think that the indoctrination is the same as objectivity.
In many cases science can be taught in the same way, not as as set of questions, but as a collected body of received wisdom.
Countries that are religious learn their learning in this way, and tend to repeat Sunday school methods in the science classroom.
Science is best demonstrated! I taught a class of kids about atmospheric pressure. they dutifully learned to repeat what I said without understanding until I brought in a steel flask; place a little water in in; boiled it out to expel the air; replaced the top; then placed it before them as the water vapour cooled so they could see the atmosphere crushing the steel sides. They were impressed and then knew, rather than believed what i had told them.
Religion is not demonstrable.
All belief is the result of brain washing.
I have observed a whole different set of pathologies and problems that emerge from the wide-spread lack of spiritual sentiment, just as there are whole sets of pathologies and problems that occur when there is wide-spread spiritual sentiment. We must conclude that these belief and feeling patterns themselves are not the real problem.
An atheistic world would be equally if not more fucked up and inhuman than a world in which there exist a proliferation of theistic feelings and beliefs.
Are you willing to start tackling the real problems, or will you remain at the very same level as your so-called opponents, bickering over insubstantialities and irrelevancies of your own psychologically-validating fantasies, and merely pointing the finger?
Inhuman abominations like Lev and all those so many like him is a perfect example of what to expect from a “rational” world where atheism is the name of the game.
The question will be “Do you believe in the myth called Evolution?” Of course they will leave out the word ‘myth’ even though that’s what it is. This is all part of the programming. Remember, it is called the ‘Theory of Evolution’ for a reason even though the indoctrination mind-control factories (the education system) presents it as irrefutable fact. This is not science, it’s politics dressed up as science. Science supposed to be empirical. It must be observable, repeatable and reproducible. Everything else is a theory i.e. a scientific myth.
PS: Evolution is not natural selection (adaptation within a species). Natural selection can be observed and repeated within a species over a short time span, evolution can not.
EDIT: Just because I don’t ‘believe’ the theory of evolution is a proven fact, doesn’t mean I reject the theory. Not at all. It’s an interesting theory but for me, it will remain a theory until we find evidence beyond reasonable doubt. This is what really ‘good education’ should be about. It should be about questioning EVERYTHING. It should discourage group-think and religious and atheistic dogma.
I agree that children should be taught as GIA suggests. There is the possibility of a natural religion that is not opposed to natural science. Myths on both sides, religion and science, would need to be dispelled.
A definition of ‘civilization’: “Civilizations are organized in densely populated settlements divided into hierarchical social classes with a ruling elite and subordinate urban and rural populations”
So a “good education” is one that leads to a human farming system (‘civilization’) that benefits the elite where the filthy rich keep getting filthier and the rest of us have to tighten our belts, give up our hard earned benefits and surrender our rights while the earth get raped. Got it
Right, and all the while people’s natural inclinations, human nature in self-possibility and self-valuing and every “good” gets shit all over and squeezed out of existence as “pathologies” because they are not useful to the mechanized inhuman murderous technologically-rationalized linearized insanity-machine that we call globalized modernity ‘culture’.
Oh yeah, I forgot, “scientific atheism” has the answers to the meaning of life… lol.
Take your prozac and get ready for the meat grinder.
I think the morons at the bottom of the league table (USA) are raping the earth a lot more than those at the top.
SO, your comment has really nothing to say about the thread, or about my post in it.
I didn’t take you as a cynic, nor one who would spew this sort of incoherent polemic; directed where, exactly, and at whom?
There is no such thing as scientific atheism. All science is by nature atheistic, as it is not concerned with god.
Who ever said life had a meaning anyway? ~Did mommy promise you it did? Didums!
Did you pull that out of your ass? That’s a cute little fantasy you have there, but in REALITY atheists generally are LESS inclined to crime and generally the more atheistic a country is, the more prosperous and PEACEFUL it is.
