The question of evil is the single most revealing of these ideas - if God exists, how can there be evil? That is by no means the question I pose in this post, no way.
Why must people make these limiting, almost self-destructive statements that says things that says, almost, that if God is one thing, or does oe thing, then he cannot be another? Why can’t God be an unlimited and ununderstadable being?
Jews believe he is every paradox and no paradox. He is totally good and totally evil. But, we also have a different way of looking at evil.
Sounds like bullshit to me.
But as for christians, it’s just one of many contradictions in their religion. You won’t get a logical answer so it’s just best not to bother looking for one.
The reason I get from it as far as I can tell is we for the larger extent have free will of thought. This was instituted primarily through God’s Angels. Lucifer, knowing he had supernatural abilities like God wanted the same level of attention as God. Well satan, along with his arrogance and followers were sent to an earthbound existence…as mankind’s bane. From my point of view, God knows everything, but does not need to indulge into the ‘negativeness’ aspects of His reality. We and satan though traverse into such realms. God is unlimited and undestanding, that is why He sent His Son Jesus as our intercessor for our shortcomings.
See, I never got that, I mean, Jesus just shows up, says “I’m the son of God” and then tells a bunch of followers to ignore the Torah and listen to him, because he is the way to God.
Well, Jesus didn’t just show up. It was prophesied that He was being sent through visions implemented by God into people a long time before His appearance. John the Baptist also told of Jesus’ coming as well. Jesus did not explicitly tell people to ignore prior teachings of the Bible. He explained He was the new Covenant sent by His Father for the redemption of our sins. The Old Testament is still used by Orthodox Jews as their influence to God. But, they have to adhere without wavering to the Ten Commandments and the other tenets set forth by the OT. The New Testament concerns the new covenant God established for people wherein our sins are redeemed through the Blood of Jesus (His death). The ultimate sacrifice for man’s sins. This new covenant involves Christians though through their with the admonishment that they tell of this, where the Orthodox Jews are not compeled to do so. In doing this, God’s Word is ushered out for evryone to hear. Some Christians though do not follow God’s intent which give non-believers the kind of ammunition for further denouncement of such tenets. Every time this happens, harder new establishments appear till trust can get another foothold. It is not enough for people to just read the Scriptures, it takes faith and action to procure God’s Word.
Go check out jewsforjudaism.com if you’re willing to see if from a faith based perspective.
And I just don’t get what christians think happened to Jews before the glorious coming of jesus.
I have a question…if god is everything…shouldn’t god be pure logic? Shouldn’t I be able to sit down and come out with a TOTALLY rational reason to believe in him.
But I don’t. So either A) god does not exist or B) god isn’t complete. If it’s B then I don’t see a reason to follow him. He’s no better than I am.
god is a contradiction. If he is everything I should be able to impose my restrictions and still find a logical reason for him. Conversely I shouldn’t be able to understand him at all. That is how god should work if he is real. Explaining it away with faith issues doesn’t do much. Saying he is beyond our understanding or “ununderstandable” is also limiting him.
